My D. is planning to apply to Stanford. She is planning to major in STEM, not art. Would it be beneficial for her to submit art portfolio with her application?

On one hand, she has reasonably good portfolio of paintings, drawings, and photos. On the other hand ... would it look sleazy? She is legally URM, but looks like a typical white blonde (sleazy point number one).

She has good grades, advanced classes, but nothing serious at Olympiads or Science Fairs. Heritage Spanish (perfect), but I doubt that it may impress adcoms.

I am heavily interested in STEM and plan to major in some subfield of engineering, but I submitted a music supplement. I am also legally URM but a typical white kid in appearance. I was admitted REA, and my admissions officer specifically mentioned that my arts supplement was a factor in their decision. Submit, submit, submit.

Definitely submit art! I applied for engineering, am half hispanic but look white, and I submitted an art supplement. It never hurts to submit something if it exhibits a personal passion. I got in REA last year!
