I was born in 1993, and so I will join in the class of 2016. I was speaking with an Indian student, who is 17, like me and he will join in the class of 2015, why? I don't know what is his system school, but I want to know in which class will american boys/girls join, who was born in 1993?

In Italy, we start school at the age of 6.
-5 years of primary school.
-3 middle school.
-5 high school.

D was born in November of 1993. In the US you begin school based on the date you were born. In some states, it’s a certain age (5) by September 1. Some kids born in spring or summer, who would be considered young for their class, maybe take an extra year of preschool or Kindergarten before starting First grade

Grades K-5 Elementary School (6 years)
Grades 6-8 Junior High or Middle School (3 years)
Grades 9-12 High School or Upper School (4 years)

The cut-offs are different in different states. I have a December birthday and grew up in a state where the cut-off was January 31. So I was 5 1/2 upon entering first grade and 17 1/2 when I went to college, turning 18 midway through my freshman year. I was always one of the youngest in my class.

My H has a December birthday, but grew up in a state where the cut-off was September 1.

Because of this, he is 4 years older than me but we are only 3 years apart academically (that is, he was a senior when I was a freshman).

My S1 was born in September of 1991 and will graduate high school in 2010. S2 was born in August of 1993 and will graduate high school in 2011. In Minnesota cannot start school unless you are 6 by September 1.

And my kids were born in summer 1992 (a full year older than Kajon’s) and will graduate high school in 2011. They were premature and are with the class they would have been in had they been full-time (that is, early fall 1992 class).
