Admission Decisions

Does anyone know when the admission notifications go out?

april 1st. Earlier if you get a likely letter

what is a likely letter?

its basically an unofficial acceptance. They send you a letter saying that the initial review of your application indicates that you will probably be accepted. That means come April 1st, you’ll get your acceptance in the mail for sure. They do it as a recruiting technique primarily to get the kids that they really want.

In the mail? I was under the impression that it was posted online April 1. Is that right?

so your saying that if you don’t get this likely letter…than you probly won’t get in?

no no no. Likely letters are sent out before April first and are usually done through the mail. I’ve heard that some people get phone calls. I know Yale does that. The rest of the applicants (which is a good 98% of them) will get their decisions on April 1st. If you don’t get one don’t freak out. You have til April 1st to find out for sure. Most people who get in don’t get a likely letter anyways.

how do you get the decisions?

They are emailed and sent through snail mail

Stanford usually admits only one student from our school and they have already admitted an athlete. Seems they only admit athletes. Won’t hold our breath. Good luck to the rest of you!
