does stanford send out likely letters....has anyone got them for RD?

I heard that they were. I haven't gotten one though. (Maybe I'm not a likely admit.)

Stanford does not give out likely letters.

My bad, a-bomb.

cool, cuz i read a thread somewhere on the "college admissions" forum, saying someone got one for stanford.

rooster, yes they do...well, i'm not 100% sure, but i read on a certain schools' accepted students website that a kid already got one...

damn.... it looks like I'm not a likely for stanford

nooo..stanford does not send out likely letters...if ur not sure call the admin office and ask but i know for a fact that they dont. there is a lot of false info on the internet...trust me, stanford = no likely letters

dumb question, but what are likely letters anyway?

means that you will "likely" get accepted on april 1, in other words it is almost a guaranteed acceptance. The likelies are used by ivies to notify students before the april 1 common reply date

likely letters were made to secure athletes b/c the ivies couldn't technically sign a kid (part of their weird rules)
stanford doesnt hav to deal with this-as long as they are within the ncaa window, they just bust out the NLI and the kid is theirs
