Admission for Transfer Student

Has anyone that applied for Fall 09 transfer student (not freshman) got accepted yet? I know application started on Jan 1 --> Mar 15. Anyone know the process if they will answer as first come first serve or all at once?

the application deadline is tomorrow. After that they send all the info to the separate colleges in the university and they make their decisions. After that they will send out letters on their decisions. Most people will get their decisions at the end of march early april.

Wow. That seems a bit soon. I would say early april if your lucky (Kids who exceed expectations of the admissions office). Late April if your an average student.

The admissions advisor told me that May would be a good time to get an acceptance/denial. I dunno though, that seems late.

Please post here when you hear back from admissions. I am also eagerly waiting :D

i thought you have to reply to whether or not you are attending by May 1st, so i would imagine that you will hear from them sometime in April

Well every person I talk to gives me a different answer but the general consensus was late March early April. Of course, they told me that I would get my UIN number no more than 2 weeks after I submit my application. It was submitted January 1 got my UIN March 3rd.

Same. I applied early january and got my AIS mid feb. Not like it matters tho, they dont review anyone until after the deadline.

I also applied to A&M as a transfer. College of Engineering with a 3.8 GPA. Everyone I talk to up there seems to give me different answers. Two counselors and one lady that handles admissions have said late March or early April. Two other counselors and a different admissions lady said early to late may. One lady told me June. I don’t think anyone up there really knows. Will post when I hear something.

There are a lot of engineering transfers this year. I know at least 12 from my school. I wonder how competitive it will be.

What classes have you taken and how many hours?

Well, if you meet the requirements for auto admission, won’t they have to accept you?

I don’t think there is auto admit for transfers.

I don’t believe that there is a auto admit for transfers. Anyways im new to this site although i have been watching for about a month. Im a transfer applicant , does anyone know just how competitive Mays business school really is?

In general. To have any chance at all, you must have completed most of your degree track, table 1. (indicator courses). Along with a 3.7+ GPA and some pretty good essays. A friend of mine attended a local transfer fair at my CC a few months ago and he told the consoler his stats, 3.85 GPA, 7 indicators done. The guy said that he has seen people with 4.0’s get denied, it kinda discouraged him from applying to business but he went ahead and did so anyways. Hes currently under review like myself. Ill let you know if he gets in or denied.

Read this, its helpful. <a href=“BBA Business Honors - Texas A&M University Mays Business School”>BBA Business Honors - Texas A&M University Mays Business School;

which term are you under review for? i know that 75 will be accepted as external transfers i wonder how many have applied for fall 09

Hmm, I don’t know why I was under the impression that there was auto admit for transfers. I really thought I read it somewhere but could only find it for freshmans in the aggie answers. Oh well, I applied to Biology. Don’t think there will be THAT much competition there as opposed to Engineering.

ampzor,

I will have completed all degree track D classes by the end of this semester. I am taking 12 hours this semester only classes I had left were cal II, physics II, and chem II. I have taken everything else. Mechanical was first choice computer was second.

Ah ok. Did you complete the ENGR 111 & 112 equivalences? That way you could hit the ground running at A&M by taking the upper level courses.

no, but i was told that if i was admitted for fall 09 I could take them in the summer and start upper level courses in the fall which would work out well for me. What about you? What discipline did you apply for and where are you at as far as classes? I have a friend at the community college I am attending now that got into electrical last year with a 3.4 but had to come back due to money issues. Im hoping for the best. I am accepted to Texas Tech and UH so if A&M doesn’t come through I’ll probably end up at Tech.

I applied for mechanical as my first choice and aerospace as my second. I will be done with all the courses on my degree track after summer. Right now I am taking physics I, calculus II, and chem II. Then calc III, physics II, two governments, and a cosc course (equivalent to ENGR 111) over the summer.

ampzor, aren’t you supposed to have finished Phys I and II, Calc I and II, Chem I and II, and ENGL 104 BEFORE you apply to engineering? Or is this only for Biomed Engineering: [Texas A&M Biomedical Engineering](http://biomed.tamu.edu/academics/transfer.html)
