Admission Interviews

Aside from on-campus interviews, are local alumni interviews conducted by WashU? If so, how do I request one, and how many students partcipate in these interviews? Does requesting an interview demonstrate a lot of interest?

Hi mmj133. WashU does offer alumni scholarships, but considering how late you are asking, I doubt that there would be an available alum in your area. Regardless, contact the admissions office by sending them an email and ask about interviews because it does demonstrate interest even if they cannot offer you an interview. WashU is huge on demonstrated interest! Best of luck

Go ahead and shoot an e-mail at their Alumni program’s e-mail. I believe it’s apap@wustl.edu, but double check to make sure. Ask them for an interview and they’re most likely going to say that they’ve stopped doing them, but they’re willing to add a note on your app that you asked for one. Better than nothing, right? Good luck!

I’m an alumni interviewer. I think it’s past the third phase so alums won’t be doing any more this season (with the exception of interview days still left).

If you’re curious about interview days, go to this website:
https://alumnissl.wustl.edu/getinvolved/apap/events/Pages/ssl_Members-Interview-Day-RSVP.aspx

Answer “yes” to question 1 (I know you’re not an alum, but it will autopopulate to show possible days in your area).
Scroll down to q5 to see the drop down menu of locations/dates.

If the one near you (if there is one) hasn’t happened yet, you can email your admissions rep requesting to attend it.

Hi @Johnson181, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately there are no remaining interview days in my area. Should I still contact the admissions office or the Alumni Program to ask if there is any possibility of receiving an interview? I had some trouble locating information about interviews on the website and was not aware of the interview days until now. Thanks!

No harm in asking, but it’s unlikely they’ll be able to match you with anyone. (But as others have said, it does show interest).

I would go ahead and e-mail them. I knew I had a very slim chance of getting one because most spots are filled up, but the person e-mailing me back was very nice and told me she put a note in my file saying I had asked for an interview. So even if you don’t get an interview at least you have a little extra boost showing your interest with a note in your file.

Why is it considered so late? Wasn’t the application deadline just 1/1? My son has been getting requests and scheduling interviews with other schools within the last week. Do the applicants need to request alumni interviews or are they just contacted if available? Thanks
