Just wondering, for in-state Michigan schools, I am looking at University of Michigan and Michigan State. I am fairly confident I will get into both, but I really would like to get into Michigan State’s Honors College. I have a 4.00 w gpa, 3.95 UW. I have taken fairly challenging classes, such as advanced math and science as I am a year ahead in my classes, finishing precalculus and physics in my junior year. I have also taken honors English, by the end of high school I will have taken 3 APs. Our school does offer many more APs and honors, but to take all of them would mean a GPA suicide. I already go to an all guys, Jesuit college prep school that is renowned for its academic rigor. I’m not sure about my class ranking, I know I am in the top 10% gpa wise for sure. Surely I will have an advantage by going to a very good school, if I went to my public school I would have Much higher grades. I have a 31 ACT, 32 if you superscore it. I also have varsity soccer, community service, business and science club (1 year each so far), and national honors society. Can current honors college students (or parents) give me some info about whether I will get in?
I’m pretty sure that anyone above a 29-30 on their ACT are offered a place in their honors college (obviously with a high GPA as yours is). At least, that’s what I’ve read around the internet and heard from friends of mine that applied last year. I’ll be applying to Michigan State in the next week or so, also… (yknow, once my essays are thoroughly checked over). Good luck!
I would just like to point out that colleges would know that you didn’t challenge yourself during school, that out of the way, you’ll probably get honors college at Mich State
