admission of athletics

is there any way of knowing what the profile in terms of academic requirements looks like for student/varsity athletics at Harvard vs non athletic students?

I don’t know enough to generalize, but I do know that they set the bar pretty high even for athletes. Harvard recruited an athlete in my grade with a 35 ACT and although I do not know the exact GPA, I know it was damn good… so not just anyone athletic can walk in.

You can enhance your application (miny hook) by taking up one of the “other” sports at Harvard. How many 4.0 GPA and 2300 SAT women rugby players, sailers, fencers, heavyweight crew, skiers, divers, ice hockey, water polo and squash players are out there?

Just to add to gibby’s post - while the 176 AI floor is in place throughout the Ivy League, in reality there are very few, if any Harvard athletes that come in at that level. The athletes as a group must be within 1 standard deviation of the student body as a whole. The average AI of Harvard athletes is probably right around 210, which equates to about 700 per section on the SAT and an unweighted GPA around 3.5.
