Admission Prospects and Course of Action for Talented Math Student

Hi College Confidential, this is my first post here.

For context: I go to what many sources consider the best public high school in New York State, and possibly even the entire country. I’m in my junior year.

I was curious about what the general community thinks about my circumstances. In freshman year, I was dealing with cripplingly severe ADHD and emotional problems that led to my average tanking to about a 69-ish. I finished sophomore year without any APs, but Honors Chemistry and an 88 average. I’m currently taking one AP course (AP Computer Science A) due to restrictions set by my high school, as well as a 200 level equivalent class in mathematics (Complex Analysis) which is the highest level offered, and Honors Physics. I’m planning on taking the AP Calculus BC test and expecting a 5 at the end of this year, and next year I plan on taking AP Physics C, Quantum Mechanics and Relativity (another 200-ish level equivalent college course), and either stepping back to take Multivariable Calculus (context: I taught myself rigorously Calculus I-II, Multivariable and Vector Calculus, Real Analysis, and other math topics over the summer between Algebra II and Precalculus), or participating in a program that allows me to take higher level courses (300 level) at NYU. I expect to end this year with about a 94 average, and ending first semester senior year with about a 95 average.

My extracurriculars are: 38 volunteer hours of tutoring underprivileged children in ELA and Math, consistent participation in student theater productions, varsity parliamentary debate

Considering my upward trend and story to tell (as well as a pretty banging college essay) and a probable 1500+ SAT score, as well as the clear affinity for mathematics slant (I plan on applying for a double major in Math and Applied Physics), do I even stand a smidgen of a chance in applying to an Ivy League or something like MIT? Should I set my sights lower? Are there any actions I can take at this point to improve my chances?

To clarify: The averages I state for each year are independent of each other. By application time, my GPA will be around 3.2-3.3.

If you can afford it, you’d be better applying to Oxbridge where the only question is how much math talent you actually have and your GPA/ECs are irrelevant. At this point I’d suggest your best bet is to try and go far in AMC/AIME/AMO.
