In another thread, we’ve been talking about UCSC admissions. I know that last year, UCSC admitted about half of applicants, but does anyone know what the admission rate was for the engineering school? I looked at the admitted students thread (congratulations to all admitted students!) and it looks like engineering is much more competitive than the rest of the school.
@“Cardinal Fang” I found this interesting which shows enrolled Freshman stats by proposed major and Division for 2018. HS GPA for Engineering is actually not the highest GPA for enrolled students, but the SAT scores are significantly higher than the rest of the Divisions.
That’s useful. The average Math SAT for enrolled freshman in the Baskin School of Engineering last year was 700. And the bad news, for students seeking admission, is that the average Math SAT for accepted applicants at Baskin was probably even higher: some students would have applied to Santa Cruz and been accepted, but would have also been accepted to, and attended, Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD or some more selective private school.
58.3%
9600 applied 5600 accepted.
