BU reps are coming to a hotel right by me on wed. may 2nd and they say they’ll do a presentation. I am a junior and am seriously considering BU. My question, if anyone’s been to one of these things before, is it worth it to go? What will they talk about in the couple of hours that they are there? I ask this b/c I have my SAT that weekend, 4 Ap exams in the coming weeks to study for, and my loads of HW (schoolnight). So is it worth it? Thanks!

yeah, I'm also curious about that. anyone got info on these sessions?

i could be wrong but i feel like the ones coming up are for class of 2011 accepted students. i went to one in my area in october of last year as a senior. you can probably call the undergrad admissions office for clarification though.

no, this thing says its an introductory reception, that you can ask about admission process, so this is for prospective juniors for next year.

Hi, My S went to hear BU reps at a local hotel. Here's a couple comments. First, they do these a few times a year, so if this is not a good time there's nothing to lose by going on a different date. Second, the one my S attended was well done, but it was really overwhelming. They go into every single school (11?) and try to touch on everything and as a result it is very confusing. My S left feeling as though he had really learned nothing. He did not speak individually with any of the reps as they were mobbed after the presentation. My vote: focus on those tests. And Good Luck!

I went to it two years ago- it was okay, it wasn't like they revealed groundbreaking information or anything, it was just basic stuff about the school. Any information from the program could be found on the website or in a college guide book, but I will say that it was nice to have a live presentation as opposed to just reading about the school. It didn't really influence me much, I am going to BU, but it's not like that was the reason. Bottom line is that it can't hurt, but don't feel like you're missing out if you don't go.

i also went to one of those last october, and the reps came to my school like 3 times before i applied. honestly, looking back, i cant remember anything i learned in there.. if it's a bad time, just wait and go to a different one

sorry, i guess its something different. there is a search you can do on the undergrad admissions page for school visits. if the reception doesnt work for you maybe you can ask questions if they visit your school
