Admission Status

there has to be something going on because i dont know how having those great stats on top of being in-state how u got deferred. Do u have a lot of extracurriculars? Is there some other situation that could have hurt your chances?

I have quite a few extra curriculars and academic awards. I also went to engineering camp there(idk if that helps[can't hurt])
I was the top physics student(recomendation from physics teacher) at my school and #2 in math. I did make more B's Than A's my first two years, but my I was still getting used to the rigor of my schedual. Everyone tells me I would be top 5% at State. I just can't see why I didn't get in.

I can't think of any. I still can't believe it. I am the top physics student at my school and #2 in Math. I have plenty of ec's. Also I will have enough AP credit to start as a sophemore. My couselor said I should get in at state and unc, but I am nervous because she said they were both likely and i still go deferred from both.

I struggled a bit the first 2 years of highschool( no C's just more B's than A's) but my performance this year and the past year have put me in the running for top scholar(yearly) at my school. Most people go to unc(30%) and another 30% go to even better schools. I don't know what happened.

Contrary to popular opinion, numbers and stats are not ALL that go into an admission decision. So many additional factors are considered and it really is hard to tell sometimes. State does have a few competetive programs such as engineering, biological sciences, biochemistry, psychology, etc. and they look for character and humility in essays, commitments, and even letters of rec. I am really sorry you got deferred. I was deferred to Carolina last year and now I know that things happen for a reason. But who knows, you still have a good chance of still coming to State. Best of luck!

p.s. keep your head up ;)

You are obviously an outstanding student and you have the ability to follow your goals no matter what school you attend. I know that still doesn't help to hear sometimes.
