I’ve been reading this site for a couple of days now and I do understand that meeting minimum requirements is the primary factor in being admitted to McGill. My daughter will be graduating HS in 2016 and McGill is her first choice. It seems that most people who post here are interested in the Arts or Science programs, but my daughter wants to be an elementary education teacher. She gets mostly A’s and one or two B’s. She had straight A’s in 9th grade, but I understand that they only consider GPA for grades 10, 11, and 12. She got a 27 on her ACT when she took it for the first time in March, which meets the minimum of 26-29, but she will be taking it again. When I look at the minimum standards for each subject on the ACT, there is one that she just misses the minimum…science. She got a 23 and minimum is 24-25. However, when I look at the requirements for the Education program, the emphasize having strong English scores, and not only does she have great grades in English, she well exceeds the minimum ACT scores of 24-25 in English by scoring a 30. She also exceeds minimum scores of 24-25 in Reading and Math with a 26 and 27 respectively. All of the ACT scores are actually low for her because her issue with test taking is that she runs out of time. She didn’t complete any section of the ACT and still, with the exception of falling one point short on the science section, she meets the rest of the minimum requirements. She will be retaking the ACT in September, and we are confident that she will do better if for no other reason than she is continuing to take ACT prep courses to learn strategies that will help her finish all the sections of the tests, but assuming that she doesn’t improve in science, will the strength of her other three scores…especially in English, which the program emphasizes…possibly make her a candidate for acceptance? Also, does anyone know if they give discounts for multiples? My daughter is a triplet, and in the U.S., most schools offer a break for having three kids in college at the same time.
Thanks!
