Admission to FSU

I am a NJ HS Junior and FSU is my top choice. I just got my SAT scores from January-

CR-690 M 630 Writing 660 . My GPA is a 91.

Volunteer at local Y

Does anyone know the FSU requirements for OOS like me and has anyone been accepted with stats like mine?

Thanks and good luck to HS seniors applying this year!

Your chances are excellent as long as you apply before the first cut off date which was 10/15/2008 this past year. Get everything in by early September so if something is delayed you have time to get it corrected before the deadline.

FSU starts accepting applications in early August. The earlier you apply the better. ;)

Do you know when the application for 2010 goes live? Are the essays the same from year to year?

Thanks- I enjoyed all your other posts which are very informative especially for OOS like me!

Probably Monday, 3 August 2009, but it could occur on the weekend as well.

You stand a much better chance of admission and securing a scholarship offer by applying early.

If possible, also visit FSU and make an appointment with Admissions. Present your transcript and scores and get an early read on your status. They'll tell you where you stand and what you can do to maximize your position. ;)

In fact, I'd suggest this visit and meeting in your junior year of high school. Give yourself time to make changes, retest and so on if needed.

Glad to help. Ask any questions here and we can usually provide good info quickly. Alumni, parents, current students all post here and give great information.

Thank you so much for your advice. I am planing to visit this spring during my break. Luckily, the FSU break does not coincide. ( I checked the FSU website to confirm) I will plan to bring transcript (something I didn't think about doing) and make an appointment with Admissions as you suggested.

You are a tremendous resource and I appreciate all your insights.

we are from the ny metro area and our s just started at fsu last summer. loves it.
his academic profile was similiar to yours (i think his sat's were a bit lower). Anyway, He applied for the summer session and I think that really helped his chances.

Applying for summer session is really great on many levels, but students from the northeast are not accustomed to starting college right after senior year of hs ends.

its very common among florida residents. It was the best thing our son could have done. it helped his chances of getting in, it gave him a chance to get acclimated to the campus over the summer when its a bit less hectic, he was able to make some very nice friends over the summer (he didn't know anyone when he went there) and he got six credits completed.

Let me know if you need any further assitance from an oos perspective.

Good luck and Go, Noles!

Definitely apply early, because you also don't want to be stuck getting your hosting priority in March... Plus if you want to do previews or sign up to orientation early, you want to have that acceptance by December.

You all have been great. Appreciate the oos perspective. If I am accepted, I will certainly look for your input re housing etc.

Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your weekend!.
