Admission to University Of Texas At Austin

how hard is it to get into UT?

i'm currently a junior, and is taking all pre-ap and ap classes except for english, the rank i got from last year is 27 out of 611 student. and GPA is 5.005 on a 5.0 scale, but the first six weeks have just passed, and i have a low b in pre-ap precal and high b in APUSH and the other classes are all low A's

i really want to get into UT , aiming for the medical field , however based on the grades i'm getting so far i'm really afraid that my rank will drop drastically :(

so i want to know if i try to maintain my gpa will i get into UT? i know that they look at my SAT/ACT scores too but the classes are so expensive to take, so i bought some study guides hoping that it will help me, but i haven't been studying much :o got any good sites or practices i can look at? :)

does anyone know if they'll give you like a balance as in if your rank is in the top 9% ( cuz didn't they change it from having to be in the top 10 to 9 percent? ) and your SAT/ACT scores? like if you do not so well on the SAT but a fairly good rank something like that?

also does anyone know what they mean by you automatically get in or something if you are in the top 10% ?

For UT this year, a top 8% rank will get you in the university. However, it will not guarantee you into your 1st choice school such as Mccombs or Engineering. If you are from a competitive school in Texas and you are within the top 15%, I dont think you have too much to worry about. My schools sends about 60 to UT a year out of a class of 600 haha.

I suggest you change to a mediocre school. They will automatically accept you if you are in the top 8% in your class. You know getting into UT-Austin is a dream of mine too, but you’ve got good things going for you. For example, YOU LIVE IN TEXAS! That’s lucky enough. Us out of staters have got slimmmmmmmmmm chances for the UT-Austin. :(
