admission

OK so if you get 2 D's in excess courses they recalculate your gpa using your senior year grades both 1st and 2nd semester and if you have a 3.0 or above your admission is continued. Is this right??

Well, that’s what happened to me because I talked to my counselor. There are a lot of people who didn’t call their counselor because of their 2 D’s (even in excess courses) who got rescinded because of it.

Thats can happen but i think it also depends on whos your counselor

Who your counselor because I talked to mine and she didnt seem understanding at all. Can you switch counselors or talk to someone else?

I don’t think it works that way =/

well i dont think its fair that some people with D’s keep their admission and others dont based on who your counselor is. I need to talk to someone else

I think the counselor reviews it but ultimately sends it to the dean of admissions who has the final say whether you get rejected or not.

Well then it looks like I’m going to talk to the dean of admissions.

not trying to be mean, but you should have done this way earlier when you got your HS final grades.

At this point, things can be very difficult to fix, my friend was rescinded from UCLA last year due to the exact problem.

best of luck

I understand your point but I notified them 1 month before school ended and then after when i got my report card

ok, based on your previous posts, you went to orientation already… They didn’t call you about your admission prior to the orientation?

I went to orientation 16-17 and I got the call today so I’m pretty ****ed about that. I’ve registered for classes and everything, I even enrolled in classes for summer bridge.

they should have already handed your file to your college

Well they didn’t b/c I registered for classes with no problem. This just really makes me mad

I thought it was a matter of when they got you transcript

It is. When did you turn in your transcript? If you turned it in a couple of days before your orientation, they would not have had enough time to process it so they would have had to let you sign up for your classes.

I turned mailed it a couple of days before the deadline and I live like 10 minutes from UCR so it could not have taken that long for them to get it. Is there anyone here who got D’s and did not get rescinded?

I made up an “D” i got in an A-G class.

Other than that, a “D” in an A-G would automatically get you rescinded, however, you might get some grace for a “D” in an excess A-G, it all depends on the counselor too

both the D’s were in excess courses. IB spanish is my 4th year and AP gov’t is my 5th history class.

2 D’s, that might be stretching it a bit, most people i know with 1 D in an excess were not rescinded. It might be hard to get passed with those two D’s, especially because they are in more advanced classes.
