Admissions! Ahh

Okay, I'm a junior and I'm just starting the college search now, but I'm just wondering if I have any hope for McGill, it would be my number one because everything I read about it I absolutely LOVE!
stats: taking highest courses offered possible,
Honors English
Honors Chem
Honors Math
AP US History
Independent Study of Latin level 3
French level 4
Art...fulfilling graduation requirement
*have all A's, one or two B's....gpa is around 3.6

why wouldn't you have a chance?

ah to be a junior again :D

...to be sure you should tell us what faculty you want to apply to..and major...for instance for MechE they want an A- average whereas for CivilE co op they are looking for B+ overall average. Not sure? Well I suggest you think more about that because different faculties and even majors within faculties can be harder or easier then others to get into. With any luck we'll both be there in a couple of years.

Hey, Yes I've totally thought about it, I'm looking at Faculty of Arts to major in Linguistics and/or sociology, or something along that lines, I LOVE languages, am taking 2 and starting a 3rd senior year. I love learning about cultures and languages of different regions, especially french. How does that affect my standings? Also, 2 out of the 3 languages I will be taking will be INDEPENDENT STUDIES because they arent offered at my school, which means I basically have to teach it to myself with books, and it's really hard but I like it. How do colleges view independent studies?

oh and also, I'm not taking a science next year because I really dont like it, it's not required senior year, and I think it would be better for me to focus on what I want to study in college.....does that look bad to colleges though?

I'm not sure how they look at IS courses - but I have taken IS french since 10th grade so I hope they look upon them well (not that it will be crucial to engineering but schools like Tufts still care). As far as not taking a science...i'm not sure how McGill would react but if you are applying to any upper echelon US schools that might not be the best idea - taking 3 languages at once might counteract that though...you might want to ask that question in the general admissions forum or search and selection.
