Admissions chances for getting into to Indiana and Michigan State with a suspension

Hey Guys, I am new to this thing!!

I am a rising senior from a prominent High School in the Chicago land region

My ACT score is 25, my gpa is a 3.23 weighted, I am the captain of my school debate team, have done volunteer works, have participated in cultural club meetings, and am currently in the process of starting my own club.

However I have a suspension from my Sophomore year for Racial/Ethnic Bullying (that year was bad in grades as well)

I am worried about not getting into these schools because of my awful misconduct in the past,

what should I do?

Your ACT and GPA will likely keep you out of Indiana University.

I’ve taken a load of AP and have excelled in them, and have shown a large peak in academic trend the past year. Also I am applying to LAS not buisness. Will that still keep me out?

You may have taken AP classes but with a 3.23 WGPA you did not do well. IU would be a reach at best.

Mich State’s admissions standards are higher than IU’s. Even of in-state MI resident, an applicant with that GPA and ACT wouldn’t be admitted.

The scatterplots at collegeapps.about.com seem to show that there are some students accepted with that profile, but perhaps they were attractive for other reasons.

They likely had a hook.

I mean those kids with GPA and ACT scores like you had a hook. If anything with that gross misconduct and suspension you will look much less attractive. You’re only chance is to write a compelling statement about your suspension and convince colleges that you are a changed person.
