I am a legacy at MSU because of my sister, I have alumni in my family from State, both of my parents did not go to college, we have the money to pay for full tuition without scholarships, and I am a white male from Michigan.

I am from MA first off so this is coming from my own experiences with kids from my state. My friend recently got accepted to MSU with a 2.9 weighted GPA and has no APs. My other friend also got recently accepted to IUB with a 1900 something on her SATs and high 3.0 for her weighted GPA she is currently taking AP Psychology. They both got in with flying colors. I do believe that you will be able to get into both schools without much trouble but then again it depends on your high school rigor and essay stuff like that. I recommend talking to your sister and seeing her stats and comparing those to yours. I think it’s a good idea for you to retake your tests because they are good but if they were higher would definitely help raise your chances. To be honest though I’ve known kids with very low GPAs who have gotten into both schools. Lower 3.0s. It also helps that you have a legacy at MSU as well. These large state schools truthfully have to review all their applications very quickly so they usually just look at your GPA, 1st quarter grades and classes, and test scores they don’t have much time to review much else and if they do it’s not as extensive as smaller schools due to their large applicant pool. My recommendation right now is retake your tests and you should be fine for either. Good luck hopefully I helped somewhat!

@VGM2144‌ Yea I am continually working on my ACT score hopping for a 30. My sister got in with a 22 and a 3.2 but that was 5 years ago. I hope I get in thanks for the help!
