Admissions Counselors unresponsive?

My DD sent emails to several admissions counselors recently, receiving replies from all schools but Miami. Unfortunately this timing has corresponded to an outpouring of "love" from a couple of contenders, including notification that she is a finalist for competitive scholar program at one. Her question for Miami had to do scheduling an honors visit and with the new scholar program, which she is interested in learning more about. She has received full tuition offer already and is NMF as well. Does anyone have experience dealing with Miami counselors? Do you recommend parent contact? I've been trying to have DD take the lead in communications but don't want this blip to drop Miami on her list. We would really like to visit (2nd time) before regular decision schools enter the mix, but only if honors visit/shadowing can be arranged.

Did you try contacting the Honors program directly instead of the general admissions counselor? If not, I would recommend it. Honors issues are more specific to that program. Sadly, some of the specific Honors info is not known by the general admissions staff.

Mom2Twins - please accept Miami’s apologies for not responding to your daughter’s email. I have sent you a private message asking for your daughter’s information so that we can resolve the problem and reach out immediately.

I have successfully communicated now with both Honors and Admissions. While helpful, I don’t think either entity is prepared to compete with other generous merit schools in selling Miami to high-stats out-of-state kids – which clearly had to be their goal in introducing improved merit scholarships.

Hello, I was reading these posts about Miami and have a question for you. My son was recently accepted to Miami and got full tuition scholarship which is due, most likely, to his high stats. Unfortunately when we applied we didn’t know/notice that there was a special supplement/essay for the application to Honors college. We are wondering if there is any way to apply/be considered for Honors program at this time since the official deadline to apply has long passed. My son really wants to go to Miami, as the school seems to be the perfect fit for him, but we are choosing among other schools such as Rutgers and UVM where he was also offered generous merit as well as already invited into Honors program. I believe that my son should to be part of Honors program at Miami to be appropriately challenged. Can you help?

I am pretty sure but not certain that a friend of D’s applied late and got in, but I am not at all certain. I would call the Honors program ASAP and ask. You can also apply once school starts.
