Scarlet and Gray Grant decreased 1k (or 2k I forgot) this year
Is federal subsidized/perkins/direct loan’s interest lower than that of private loan in US?
Cause interests here in my country are roughly half of the federal loan’s
anybody still in deferred status? I am–I see a 2017 Aid Year Description in Financial Aid (I have no to-dos and no award listed), but my status is still deferred. Getting nervous after getting waitlisted at my second choice (OSU is my first). Hoping others are in my same boat still. . .
Same boat here…still deferred at OSU…in at Clemson & Baylor…waiting on 3 more!
Still waiting as well. A yes from the Buckeyes would definitely move them into the final four. It would be nice to fit them into the travel plans!
Is anyone else having trouble accessing their financial aid package? I and another girl at my high school can’t even log in, though we both received emails saying that our award was revised.
Anyone know when we will hear back about what Scholars program we’re in?
@drew1710 Last year everyone heard back on April 7th! I hope it is sooner this year. I check go.osu.edu/scholars at least five times a day!
Hey guys! I just got admitted into OSU-Columbus for Computer and Info Sci in the College of Arts and Sciences. Do you guys know how good this major is in OSU? I just wanted to know so I could decide on whether to go or not.
You may want to check out OSU’s red dit page and search for CSE. Note that CIS and CSE majors take the same classes for their major and only differ a bit in their outside major class requirements.
Is there a large difference in the programs at OSU when it comes to computer science?
Some colleges have CS in the college of science and others in engineering.
OSU does both, but not sure of the difference, even after reading the OSU website.
@osuprof Thanks. So in this sense, would receiving a BS in CIS be equivalent to receiving a degree in CS? Are the job opportunities just as wide as CS?
CIS and CSE majors differ with respect to about 10% of the curriculum (12 out of 120+ credits). CIS has the breadth requirements of art and sciences, which is 36 credits. Engineering general education requirement is 24 credits. CIS requires foreign language, CSE does not. Instead, CSE requires one additional class in Electric circuits, 2 2-credit Intro to Engineering classes, and one Maths elective.
I do not see any reason why an employer will care either-way, and I do not think they do.
By the way, Cornell, Michigan, and Northwestern are some of the other Universities that offer CS degrees through both engineering and art and sciences.
still sitting in deferred–hoping for good news very soon! Anyone else who was deferred hear over the last few days?
@Weshallsee Nope, still waiting. Ohio State is my top choice, so it’s getting a bit stressful :-S
same here
they said by the end of march when I was deferred so hopefully any day
Same here! Thought today might be the day…
@osuprof Thanks so much for all of the responses and the info. Will probably become a Buckeye in Fall!
