Admissions Decisions Class of 2020

Minnesota is not ranked higher in overall or computer science rankings. If OSU is cheaper, that is a good reason.

To read perspective of current CSE students, go to OSU’s red dit page (remove the blank) and search for CSE.

I agree with osuprof above on academics and cost (which is huge, $7,000 is a lot of money-ask your parents) barring any other specific wants I would also point out winters are not as bad in Columbus and they have a pretty good football team and band!

Can someone post the most updated dataset for admissions so far? I know there was a fellow member who was posting OSU admission link as the application cycle progressed.

@dreamed This one? http://oesar.osu.edu/pdf/admissions/NFYSxPlan.pdf
I am still in waitlist mode, so I’m watching these and am wondering about the higher rates–still hoping there is room to take some more students.

@Weshallsee - Thanks.

Wondering if they view the waitlist by major or in aggregate. D’s intended major has lower rate of folks who paid admit fee.

Intended college may be taken into account, doubt they go to the level of the major.

@osuprof Looking at the data set as of today, looks like specifically for engineering OSU admitted 739 more students but only 61 more have paid the accepted fee. As someone on the wait list wanting to go into CSE-PRE, are the chances looking good considering everyone on the wait list last year was accepted? I’m assuming with the increased amount of admits that they are wanting a bigger class (at least in terms of engineering) and with only 61 more students from last year accepting as we reach the May 1st date could allow for more room. The thing that scares me is CSE-PRE itself with a 37% increase of acceptances but along with that was an additional 344 students being admitted.

@dukeofspades:

I frankly do not know if the target class is bigger for engineering. Art and Science is definitely looking for more students. Part of the reason for larger number of acceptances in engineering might be because more of them are to out-of-state students this year, where the yields are expected to be much smaller (especially if it is more out-of-state students without national buckeye scholarship).

Good luck to you! Have you been admitted to OSU (on explorations?) and waitlisted for Engineering (I don’t know if they actually do that!) or are you waitlisted for University admissions. If the latter, I suspect that you best case scenario might be admission into Explorations, I am sorry for say!

@osuprof Thanks for the quick reply! I am currently just wait listed in general and am an in-state student. I have emailed the admissions office multiple times and they have told me I’m definitely a top class student and am qualified for the engineering school it’s just if they have enough room. But if the target class for engineering isn’t actually bigger, then I’m going to assume they won’t have enough room. Just seems odd how they admitted 739 more ppl than last year! Since I actually haven’t been accepted to “Explorations” (not actually sure what that is) you’re saying that there is a very slim chance I get into engineering straight?

@Weshallsee Can I get the up to date link for the admits and how many paid their fee?

@gurney
It’s the same link. The pdf file will be updated every Monday.

Here’s the link for all/past admission reports
http://oesar.osu.edu/admissions.aspx

One of the two links has been updated:

http://oesar.osu.edu/pdf/admissions/NFYSxPlan.pdf

The number of fee payments has increased by around 8% over last year. However, with no knowledge of the target class size, one cannot conclude what it means for waitlisted students.

Has anyone on waitlist heard anything? Getting very worried. Seems like people heard by now last year at this point.

Any updates on possibilities of getting off the wait list? Tried looking up when people knew, and as @Weshallsee said, most people last year were notified by now. Is it common for them to wait when the outcome is branching people? Or is it possible they are doing admissions differently this year or still considering if room is available? The waiting sucks :confused:

Hi I will be attending OSU from fall this year, and I need help selecting a meal plan. Please help regarding this matter.

Have you read the materials on the OSU website that describe the different plans? if yes, what specific questions do you have?

What’s the cost of attendance for next year? Does anyone know?

Will there be any decisions coming out today?

@svillestudent You’re in the wrong thread. Use this one below.
