@carolinegf - My son was also accepted first wave and we have not received anything on scholarships either.
@carolinegf and @jpc763 Same here. First wave. No scholarship info yet.
Sad News for us OOS - I just called the Office of Admissions (regarding my daughter who was accepted Engineering first wave). I asked about the status on the National Buckeye Scholarship and when they expect to be snail mailed (if not this week based on previous years). She put me on hold, inquired, and stated that they will not be notifying OOS about the National Buckeye until end-of-January to end-of-February! Also, notifying accepted students on merit scholarships will most likely not be starting until mid-January! Unlike previous years. She realizes that and mentioned that they have changed their structure. My daughter was hoping to have her decision by end of year.
@CRVKids Thanks for the update. Been checking the mail every day and hoping to have an answer! I hate having to wait that long. It would be nice to make some decisions and the scholarships are an important part of that. That surprises me because they started sending out Morill already I know.
It may be a good move for someone else to call and verify what I was told.
Any information on Morill?
@CRVKids If what you say is true, that OSU won’t be notifying recipients of merit aid until mid January to end of February, it actually makes sense. The past two years they started releasing merit aid decisions as early as December, before the regular decision application deadline ended. This fact, coupled with the fact that the number of high stat, buckeye-eligible applicants has increased a lot during the past few years (with total domestic applications approaching 45,000), resulted in scholarship money running out, leaving many qualified, top students without any merit aid. And mostly due to the fact that these applicants submitted their applications too late (but before the November 1 Early Action priority scholarship consideration or regular decision deadlines)., … So OSU probably wants to look and compare the entire applicant pool before making decisions on the national buckeye and smaller scholarships. This way, they can distribute the merit aid more fairly to the most deserving applicants based on class rank/gpa and standardized test scores.
I got my honors notification a couple hours ago!
D is in at Honors.
@orwellparasiempre @itsgettingreal17 How were you notified? Portal or email? And if email, the buckeye one or personal?
A very late email (past 10 pm).
@orwellparasiempre @itsgettingreal17 Congratulations on your acceptance into the Honors Program! I created a separate thread so others can gain insight into the criteria or range of scores needed to gain admittance to the Honors Program. Can you post your stats there?
It was to my personal email at about 11p.m.
My DD just got email from late last night that she was accepted! I guess they are doing more acceptances. We were worried we would not hear until January since missed last 2 waves.
@ballet13 Congrats to your daughter. However, admission decisions are typically released on an applicant’s portal page well before an email is sent to the applicant. Had you checked her portal recently? It seems more likely that she was accepted via the portal in the last wave of decisions and the email is just now catching up. I say that only because I don’t want other hopeful applicants who haven’t heard yet become concerned that maybe there was yet another wave of acceptances last night and they still haven’t heard.
@adlgel Actually we had been checking daily and nothing until she received the email late last night. That is why I wanted to post here. We had lost hope for before Xmas. I can’t guarantee we checked yesterday since she was sick, but definitely each day before, esp as people posted updates about their honors and other special areas. Only thing that may be different is she auditioned in Oct for dance and heard then she was accepted to dance, but had to still be accepted to U. Then 2 admission waves came and went with no word. We were very worried. So keep checking I guess. Her email said a packet would be in mail too.
If i didnt recieve the honors notification does it mean that i am ineligible for it? Are they still yet to send notifications out?
I really doubt it means you’re not in. I’m pretty sure my brother got him notification long after the new year when he applied three years ago.
Hey so I was wondering if there was a group chat for admitted students…I just got back into the country and saw my acceptance
To my knowledge there isn’t one, but I can create a groupme for accepted students if anyone’s interested?
