@jpc763 Awww thank you! I hope this helps you and that you receive some aid as well. Good luck!
I emailed them today to make sure I was still early action and they told me that they moved my application to regular decision because they got my fee waiver late even though it was postmarked in time. So I called them again and they fixed it and said that I would hear back in 2-3 weeks.
I received the maximus scholarship as well (in state). I have a 35 ACT and 4.3 GPA but I am definitely not in the top 3% of my class as the OSU website says you need for the maximus. My school does not rank but I’m probably top 15%. I hope this helps any of you still waiting to hear!
My daughter, OOS, same stats, also deferred. Sort of surprising, as she has been accepted at more competitive institutions.
panic2017, is OSU your first choice? With your stats, I assume you’re looking at a number of top schools.
@BayAreaBuck OSU is definitely up there on my list, but I’ll probably end up going wherever I get the most money. Rutgers, my state school, gave me a full ride, so OSU will have to come close to that for it to be a real possibility. I applied to both Morrill and Emience, so we’ll see! If I can swing it I would LOVE to come to Ohio State.
@panic2017 and @JemmaSimmons Did your Financial Aid portal get updated to reflect your awards? Or you only received a letter in the mail. Thanks.
@Trollair As far as I can tell, nothing has changed on my portal, including the financial aid section. I think the financial aid section is just for need-based aid, although I could be wrong.
@panic2017 Best of luck in your decision process. You can’t go wrong with either school.
My son was admitted to OSU on Friday and is very excited. We came out for the Michigan game in November and took a tour the following Monday. (Well, we tried to take a tour but weren’t able to since we got caught up in the lockdown incident.) At any rate, I had previously shown him around campus and I couldn’t believe how much it has changed since I graduated in 1991. Quite a few newer buildings that are very attractive. Also, the student population seems friendlier than when I attended.
Good luck!
Decision: ACCEPTED
Applied: 30th October
Checklist: 3rd November
Decision: 20th January
Major: Electrical and Computer engineering
I’m a male international student who lives in India.
My stats are:
ACT: Composite- 31 (E-32, M-35, R-25, S-30)
10th grade: 9.8 CGPA (CBSE)
11th grade: 90% (State board)
12th grade midterms: 85%
@Trollair It has not updated on my portal yet, so I only saw the mail letter. However, I did get a generic email yesterday from my region’s admission that stated “If you’re waiting on our merit awards, such as the National Buckeye Scholarship, those decisions will be posted to your Applicant Center should you be a recipient within the next few weeks”, so you should see an update on there soon, but I would imagine it would come in the mail first.
@BayAreaBuck Thank you! I agree that both are fantastic schools. I haven’t been able to visit campus yet, but I am attending one of the admitted student events in March, so I will get my first look at it then. I’m glad you thought the students were nice there, since that’s my biggest fear with such large state schools.
Has anyone else received a letter about The National Buckeye Scholarship?
Yes. It was in yesterday’s mail.
is there any chance for regular decision applicants to be considered for the national buckeye? i feel like i fit the criteria for it, but i didn’t get the chance to apply by nov. 1 since i took the ACT in october… and is OSU need-blind?
also, can anybody explain about the college of engineering scholarship? thanks
@esogunie make sure that you receive an email from them stating that you are being considered for early action. My D just received her email this morning.
Can those of you who are lucky enough to have already received the Buckeye Scholarship please post when you received your letter and what your stats were? (ACT/GPA/Class rank) It may help the rest of us determine if there is still hope!! Thanks!!
I was looking at a thread from 2015 and some people said they called and were told over the phone what scholarships they received – instead of waiting for a letter to arrive. Anyone brave enough to do that?
@buckeyemom17 I’ll begin your stats idea:
National Buckeye and Maximus Scholarships
3.95 W/3.50 UW
33 ACT/1480 SAT
No rank available
I was looking at that same thread this morning and called just after. The girl was happy to look up my son for me. She was able to see that no decision on scholarship was made yet but the decisions and letters would continue to go out through the end of February. Had he already been granted the scholarship, she would have been able to tell me so its worth a call if you can’t wait…like me! Im sure I’ll call again next week.
