D was deferred in first wave of evaluations back at Thanksgiving. Do the second reviews also get evaluated in waves according to when they were deferred? I know they said we’d find out by end of March, but I was just wondering/hoping she’d find out sooner. Lots of good schools accepted her to so would Love to get on with it and make a decision…
@osumom33 my D is in the same boat as your’s. She was deferred in the first wave but she’s been accepted at all the other schools she applied and we already have scholarships from those schools as well. Since we have other options we are most likely going with one of them but still she want’s a final decision from OSU. I doubt at this point we would consider OSU due to the deferral and our other options but she still is wanting to know one way or the other to close the loop. Guess we could just withdraw the application and be done but still like to keep our options open until all the dust has settled.
Has anyone heard back about the National Buckeye that did not get the Maximus as well?
Nothing yet. I’m actually surprised there hasn’t been anyone else yet. It’s been about 2.5 weeks since the Maximus people heard.
Are you saying that the National Buckeye scholarships are being awarded in tiers starting with the Maximus qualifiers?
@buckeyemom17 Yes. That is how it’s been done the past three years, at least. National Buckeye and Maximus; A few weeks later National Buckeye and Provost; and a few weeks later the National Buckeye and Trustee. This year they have been slower to award the combo of scholarships and it has already been longer wait between them , as it’s already been 2.5 weeks since the Buckeye and Maximus combo. I think the next grouping of scholarships will come within the next week.
Has anyone heard anything about the scholars programme?
Haven’t even heard about Honors yet-although I’m assuming D did not get in at this point. Probably just as well- heard it’s really hard. People are getting declined who have top 1% scores on the ACT! Incredible…
Oh! Anyways best of luck for your daughter
I sent an email to honors-scholars@osu.edu on 1/30/17 and got this reply: “Thank you for contacting the Honors & Scholars Center. I’ve checked your status, and it looks like we haven’t made a decision on your application yet. Don’t be worried, we are still sending out the majority of our decisions.” Funny thing is, by the time we got the response 3 days later, my son had already gotten an email about being admitted into the Honors program. So, you can always email or call the department and ask them to check on your child’s status. Best of luck!!!
Anyone know when the next wave of decisions is coming out? possibly tonight?
When will the regular decisions be coming out? I applied around mid December.
Checked this morning and I got admitted! Does anyone who’s been admitted know any facebook or twitter groups to join for admitted students or to find roommates?
@Estudiante2345 congrats - when did you apply? did you do Reg Decision?
@Estudiante2345 There’s a Facebook page called The Ohio State University Class of 2021 Roommate Search, and a GroupMe about six hundred of us are on that you can be added too. You can also use websites like RoomSurf too!
Does anybody know how many people receive national buckeye scholarship? I know my chances of receiving it could be better since it seems like osu is taking 800-1000 less freshman this year but still worried I might not get it
Everyone out of state student who meets the requirements and applied during EA should get it by the end of February.
@nasteeR Everyone who meets the requirements and applied during EA will NOT necessarily get the National Buckeye Scholarship. Last year there were more than few examples of students who qualified but did not get it.
Is there anything that’s taken into bigger consideration outside of ACT and class rank to determine who gets it then?
@coleosu I managed to get the National Buckeye and the Maximus with only a 3.95 weighted GPA and a 33 on the ACT. My school doesn’t rank, but apparently, they looked at my school profile. My school, as reference, is one of the best in my state.
