and by the way guys, I had gotten my rejection from OSU honors college about a week ago so when I saw this, I was in complete shock
@simbuh congrats to you. That is fantastic news!!! My d was deferred but oh well she has great options from other schools and waiting on two others.
D received letter for Provost Scholarship today in snail mai ( In-State)- Finally!
- Had already paid the acceptance fee for housing priority purposes, so great news! Just awaiting word on Honors College.
@OldCheermomDC thank you! & remember that everything that is meant to be, will be
I got the letter via snail mail for National Buckeye and Provost today. OOS Chem major, 35 ACT, top 6% class rank. Still waiting on Honors decision.
D got letter via snail mail for National Buckeye and Provost scholarships today. She is OOS – 33 ACT and 4.08 WGPA. No word yet on Honors.
S received letter for Provost Scholarship today too in snail mail, also in-state. A little disappointed since he qualified for Maximum, but realized they ran out of those scholarships before all the people who qualified got them. But, $10,000 off 4 years of tuition isn’t shabby, we’ll take it :o) He got notification for being accepted into Honors a week or two ago. So now are just waiting on hearing about housing and other assorted scholarships that he is applying for.
@Mombean Did they actually tell you that they ran out of Maximus money prior to giving them all out? My son qualifies for Trustee level. This makes me concerned about a trickle down effect.
I was in contact with a lady in the admissions office, and this is what she wrote “The test score/class rank are criteria that allow the student to be considered [for the merit scholarships]. Oftentimes, the scores and class rank for students who are awarded those scholarships are a little higher as the pool of money for merit scholarships is limited.” My son has a 32 ACT, 4.4 GPA, top 3% in his class and has excellent EC including 200+ service hours and being an Eagle Scout. He got the Provost scholarship. So my assumption is, that people with higher rankings used up all the Maximus money, so that dropped him down to the Provost pool. I wouldn’t be surprised if the students on the lower end of each level of scholarship fall down to the one below it, but who knows. Maybe some of the people given Maximus scholarships will decline OSU, and then they’ll be more money back in the pool. But that may just be wishful thinking.
Finally, after waiting since November (when my daughter OOS Pennsylvania was accepted into Engineering), she received the National Buckeye and Provost in the mail yesterday. So generous, should not complain, my daughter ACT 34 but lower in the class rank Top 10% and WGPA 4.1. Everyone should appreciate the generosity of OSU as other schools on her list have not come through with anything.
@sharples99 - I hear you. U of Wisconsin is a school that comes to mind. tOSU and U of Minnesota are both schools that are making OOS possible. Wisconsin… not so much.
We are in Wisconsin and that is my son’s second choice of a school. We too are grateful that the merit scholarships make tOSU even a possibility. Wisconsin has taken some heat recently about not offering merit scholarships for OOS students. I see that changing in the near future.
D received the Buckeye and Provost in the mail today!! So happy!!
Next round of decisions come out this friday!! Good luck to all!
Wait really? How do you know? @bkbuckeye
I thought they would come out thursday
I called admissions @violetcat101
@bkbuckeye next round will be friday? have you got any idea this round will release the decision of oos and international students? I submit my application on Dec20th what are my chance in this round?
I want to address the postcard my D received again. It seems as if everyone here is getting offers via snail mail. The postcard specifically said to check her buckeye email for the offer. Has anyone gotten an offer vi email?
@homerone I think the offer via email is for need-based financial aid, and everyone who filed a FAFSA received the postcard for it. The mail offers are for scholarships.
