Admissions Decisions Class of 2021

@lovethearts1 ^^^^^^

D just got the good news! National Buckeye and Trustee. Go Bucks!

YAY!!! just got ours too…NBS and Trustee. Was afraid they’d run out of money before they got to the trustee level!!!

@buckeyemom17 What state are you guys in?

@Boiler1 Where are you guys located?

I’m very upset right now. Was given the NBS but not Trustee when I was more than qualified for it. SAT of 1380 and class rank of 8%. Not sure OSU is where I want to be anymore

@Boiler1 @buckeyemom17 - Sorry, I should have said congratulations too.

@lovethearts1 If you didn’t get a letter yet you should call. I just did and they said our letter was sent last Friday. So the mail is just slow! My son got NBS, but not Trustee. But he was on the edge for Trustee and that $1500/year just isn’t that much to make up. It will still be about $5,000/year more for him to go to OSU than Wisconsin but he feels he should be there so we are good. I won’t argue a $12,500/yr scholarship!! Hope you get good news too. The girl I talked to was super nice.

@schoolistoohard sorry to hear you did not get the trustee on top of the national buckeye scholarship (NBS), especially since your stats seem to be above the threshold for it. I know you are upset but at least you got the NBS, which is a considerable sum ($50,000) over 4 years. Dont discount the school just because of not getting the trustee, it’s only $6,000 over 4 years and not worth giving up attending a great school with great academic programs, renovated/new facilities, extracurriculars and big-time sports and school spirit.

Agreed @trackmbe3. I was a little disappointed since my son qualified for Trustee too, but in the long run it just isn’t that much money. He doesn’t know yet since he is at basketball, but we are on our way to the game and will tell him. He is going to be SO excited!! And really, you could come up with $1500/year fairly easily. Sell your plasma or something

@lovethearts1 I agree with drjdillon that you should call, my D 's letter didn’t come the same day a lot of others did, so I called and they told me she got NBS and Provost. The letter came the following day.

Would anyone be willing to share their stats? My D is a wreck because we haven’t heard anything. She was a direct admit to Fisher, invited to Scholars and is OOS with a 30 ACT and 3.95 unweighted GPA. Her high school doesn’t rank, but she is at least in the top 10% of a very competitive high school. She applied earlyish October and was accepted in December - we’ve visited OSU three times and this is definitely her top choice.

@pop424 in state, admitted to college of arts and sciences, 3.6 uw/4.1 w, 35 act, admitted to honors +maximus scholarship

@pop424 - Son is OOS. 32 ACT, top 7%, 3.9 uw GPA. He earned the National Buckeye and Provost scholarships.

I recommend calling the school.

@pop424 With a 30 ACT and top 10% of a competitive high school (assuming your D took mostly honors courses and/or a few APs) and with decent extracurriculars your daughter should get at least the NBS. Ohio State looks holistically at a number of factors that are listed in its website. So it’s not always a strictly numbers game for these scholarships. I would not only call the admissions office directly but also try and get in touch with the regional admissions officer who is responsible for the territory where you live. The regional admissions officers are usually very helpful. And if those two avenues don’t bear fruit you can see if your daughter’s guidance counselor can contact Ohio state. Sometimes it’s easier for the guidance counselors to get answers. Or you can try all three approaches!

@buck17 @drjdillon Thanks so much. I have a good feeling that tomorrow will be the day. Maybe I will call, but it is my birthday… lol.

Does anybody know if OSU ever gives money to OOS transfer students?

When are the next batch of results coming out for the admissions?

@jpc763 @trackmbe3 Thanks I’ll have her call tomorrow if she still hasn’t heard. So do you just ask if she will be awarded anything…will they tell you? We went to a local accepted students event this past weekend and they said that all financial aid info will be out by the end of February. Obviously scholarships are awarded separately - she likely won’t qualify for financial aid. Very stressful and difficult to wait…especially since she has the stats for the National Buckeye and Provost level (according to their website), but it looks like the students receiving the scholarships have stats that far exceed the requirements listed.

@pop424 if your daughter calls and provides her Id number and whatever verification is needed they should be able to tell her over the phone if she has been awarded NBS and trustee. They won’t tell her the reason why not. Also the regional admissions officer or guidance counselor should be able to find out for your daughter if the admissions office does not tell her directly.
