Admissions Decisions

You will know right away. The rejection is business size like a bill would come in. letter is folded in thirds. Acceptance is your standard 8 1/2 x 11 envelope–like the usual acceptances or college info packets are sent in.

@Coffeegal Glastonbury. Although they don’t rank I know she is in the top 2.5% of her class. ACT 34. GPA 4.6 (halfway through junior year-may have changed), summer job, Tae Kwon Do- 2nd degree black belt (working on this since elementary school), lots of AP classes, excellent essay (I think so, anyway. It was looked over by lots of people including staff at school), interesting/unusual summer activities, lots of clubs, volunteering.

I noticed one interesting fact which is that ND student body has a significant number who attended Catholic High School (almost half!) and also legacies (almost 25%). Does anyone know if this is a coincidence or if attending a catholic school helps significantly?

Wow!! I just got the email, I’m accepted to Mendoza College of Business!!

@CrazyMomof3‌ I think it definitely helps. I got to Catholic school on the east coast and our class was 4/4 during REA. I think they definitely deserved it though. Kids get in every year and the regional counselor always visits in the fall, so I’m thinking we have a good relationship with ND

@CrazyMomof3 your D has very similar grades, etc. as my S. He attends a public school. We went to “ND on the Road” information session but did not visit campus. I wonder if this plays a role in admissions decisions. What is your daughter’s intended major at ND?

@Localdreamer15 Thanks. I was wondering if the numbers are due to cultivated relationships with lots of catholic schools, or maybe there is a large pool of catholic school applicants so it’s statistically even, or perhaps the average catholic school is simply more rigorous than the average public school.

I know an 8th grader ND legacy who has gone to catholic school since K but is considering switching from catholic schools to a very good public magnet. She (and her parents) already want an acceptance to ND in 4 years.

@coffeegal She applied to major in engineering. We were unable to visit ND, too. Most colleges visit our high school. I’m pretty certain ND was no exception and if she had a free period she would have attended. Was planning a trip with neighbor in April if she got in. Good luck. I hope your son gets good news!

When do you believe west coast will get their letters :frowning:

Waitlisted

Officially admitted
(International student)
Received acceptance by email

Do those on the waitlist get the FA packages now or only when they’re offered admission off the list? Is it the same for most schools?

No news in southeastern Wisconsin

Anyone from Texas or other near states hear back yet?

Nothing in South Florida today.

nothing in central FL either :frowning: I’m so nervous!

Nothing in Central Ohio yet. Were the admissions decisions sent out all at once or are they perhaps sending them in batches?

Rejected in socal

Nothing in Chicago suburbs for me, although two of my classmates got waitlisted. How have kids in SoCal heard back but not me?

@kipland I’m with you on that. I’m in southeastern Wisconsin, and I haven’t heard anything. Given the random slew of acceptances and rejections, I don’t think that we can accept that as either good news or bad news. I’m just tired of waiting!!!

Did anyone accepted receive financial aid info?

Haven’t heard anything in the NY area as of yet…
