Admissions Decisions

Speaking of which, what essay topics did those of you who are accepted use? For one of mine, I reinvented my high school, and just talked about how mold in the middle school forced us to share the high school with them. For the other, I wrote about a fun experience I had outside of school, and talked about how I took the city buses to deliver a check regarding a minor accident I caused (long story, but I thought the essay was real hokey).

i wrote this really complicated statement about my personal ideologies and somehow made it fit on one page, and still make sense, and then i wrote about me and my best friend from high school finding a dead seal and a rainbow on an island for the "fun" essay.

so, instant messenger me: axeofgilgamesh, my real name is max, i'm from maine, i've been in since december (early 1) but i'm excited that more people have been accepted and i'd like to talk to people. if you're excited about school and want to give me a shout, feel free.

for my essays i did something similar. i wrote about my philosohpies and my "search of passion" that i'd had through out high school. i wrote about how i matured through the 4 years and how college would help me attain my goals.
for the fun essay i wrote about a show i played with my band. it was sort of fictious. i put together like 2 experiences i've had.

Waitlisted. ouch.

1500 SAT
National Merit Finalist

should we be going something? or just wait?

WWT--
If Pomona is your #1 choice, and only if you plan to attend Pomona, I would recommend that you call the admissions office and let them know that Pomona is still at the top of your list and that you will attend if accepted. If you happen to know an adcom (someone who visited your HS, etc.), then ask to speak with that person.

Good luck!

Well, I used the common app, so my common app essay was about being a writer and going to the California State Summer School for the Arts. Then for the Pomona supplement, for a fun experience, I wrote about my family's stay in a hotel in the middle of nowhere during one of our crazy roadtrips.

accepted. 1460, 800, 760, 680, NYC

i wrote my essays about math and the one about "outside activities." interestingly, the essay about "outside activities" i wrote about running with a friend, and that friend got into pomona too. not that interesting.... but whatever.

waitlisted!
