Official Waiting Room

I know that we still have until Monday (unless you're one of the lucky few who already got in) but I'm really nervous!! Who else is anxiously waiting for decisions?

dude
i feel like killing myself

3.54 gpa
1940 sat
lots of ec…but i’m gonna get owned -_-
i already got rejected from cal poly slo and davis

Well Cal Poly is weird in the sense of their “apply to major” thingy-ma-jig. What major did you apply for there?

And you have good SATs, so I think you do have a chance!

Do you have any leadership in you ECs? I know they like to see that.

pres of savy, presidential volunteering award…my ecs are decent to good

i applied for environmental science for all my schools =/
do you know if there’s barely any that apply for that at ucsb?

When you apply to UCSB, they don’t look at majors. They may look at it for how it may relate to anything you did in HS, but otherwise (unless you apply into engineering) it doesn’t affect your admissions that much.

Cal Poly is just you apply to your major.
UCSB is you apply to the school (or engineering department).

oh
well, i hope my essay made them cry and yours did too =)
best wishes to both of us

Thanks! My essays weren’t really emotional though. Just a deeper look into one of my EC’s and my family background.

i just saw your stats…you’re in for sure…lol
i just hope i can say the same
but i can’t

I’m so nervous. UCSB is my top choice. I only have like 3.68 UC GPA and 1960 SAT though.
I hope I get in fingers crossed

I’m really nervous! UCSB isn’t really at the top of my list, but I’m still anxious to hear.

UC GPA - 4.1 or 4.2
SAT - 1910

ECs: UCR orchestra, high school orchestra, varsity tennis

Income = around 40,000

"i just saw your stats…you’re in for sure…lol
i just hope i can say the same
but i can’t "

you saw my stats? you mean on the chance me boards?

And I think you def. have a shot.
Look at this website:

[Fall 2009 application tables](http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2009/09app.html)

Average GPA of all UCSB applicants was 3.65
and SAT was 1728

You’re well above the SAT average.

^^ So is everyone else who has posted here so far, btw.

wow…no way…

wait
then how come it says

High School GPA: 3.94

ACT Composite Score: 27

SAT Critical Reading: 606

SAT Mathematics: 633

SAT Writing: 616

on the UC site

[University of California - Admissions](http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsb.html)

That was Fall 2008.

The link I posted has 07-09.

But don’t forget that that’s average of about 44,000 applicants.

The numbers on the UC site were the average admit numbers so the average admit had a 3.94 UC GPA.

What kind of a GPA is your 3.54? Unweighted?

3.88 UC GPA
27 ACT

Rejected from UCD.

:(

weighted =/

imgoing2college, was that link you posted for unweighted or weighted?

my gpa sucks but i’m hoping my e.c. and sat will help me get in

i also come from a highschool that has an API of about 832

The UC weighted with 8 UC-approved honors points?

The one he posted was the average for this year’s applicants, the one I posted was the average for last year’s admits.

yea it’s considering 8 UC approved AP classes
my school doesn’t do 5.0 on honors
but i’ve taken mainly honors and APs (Cs on couple though)

I already know that I’m going to be accepted (ELC) but I’m so anxious to here anyways!

Davis has a higher avg. applicant GPA than UCSB.
It also has a higher avg. applicant SAT.
Plus, Davis received a higher jump in applications than UCSB this year (SB actually received fewer apps) and Davis is planning on curtailing admissions more so than UCSB because of budget crisis.

From this, UCSB should be easier to get into than Davis this year. We’ll see.
