Admissions Decisions....

I just called Wesleyan. They said anyone who has received an admission packet is part of ED I or ED II, and that regular packets are going out
April 1. Does this fit for those of you who have already received packets?

I think that those who received the package are students who will have to make special arrangements to attend Wesfest--plane tickets and what not. There was one CCer who said she was from NJ, and still received the package early, but other than that...it seems mostly CA and western state students...

I'm in Washington, DC and got it (and jerrylaurie, I'm not an ED applicant – I'm RD). I guess it's possible that I'd have to make special travel arrangements, but since it's just a 6-hour drive, I'll almost definitely just drive up for Wesfest.

I got everything you did, sgtpepper08, except for the note from the interviewer, since I never interviewed.

I think I'm worrying too much, but I haven't gotten a letter and I live pretty far away from CT (I'm in Chicago). Do you think this means I won't get into Wesleyan? Aghhh it's my first choice and I just desparately want to find out if I've been rejected.

herringbone5: I too am in the midwest (Ohio) and from this it seems like no one in the midwest has gotten anything. I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm not ED I or ED II and I got it...in NM. But just saying, it was for RD applicants.

Thanks, THEAjay89. Guess we'll just have to hang tight until the Midwest gets some love.

I didn't. 10 char

Guys, I really doubt that the release of early acceptances has anything much to do with geographic location. The very small number of people who posted on this thread that they got them (I'm too lazy to go back and count, but I'm pretty sure it was under 10) does not make a good population sample. Yeah, several of the people live far from Wesleyan. But I live in DC, and one person who got it lives in New Jersey. I think these are closer to early writes in nature.

So if you live far from Wesleyan and didn't get an acceptance in the mail, don't freak out.

I agree with Adaman,Wesleyan will mail out upwards of 7000 decision letters and who knows the rhyme or reason of the timing. Perhaps they're letting people know who haven't yet visited the campus or perhaps the early acceptances go to the "no brainer" candidates. My son is applying,we're from NH and I'm more anxious than he is. He doesn't even read this site.

Kaydad: Are there really 7,000 letters? Wow; that's alot. How many applications did they get this year?

We're in Baltimore and my DS' came in last Friday's mail. It could be some kind of early notify group for whatever reason. Don't fret; I'm sure many, many more acceptances are soon to be mailed.

Also, Kaydad, I'm totally in the same boat as you; I'm way more anxious about this stuff than my kid. :-D

I'm also curious as to how many applications wesleyan got this year... I'm sure it's over 7,000... they got over that last year, and most of the NESCAC schools saw 5-10% increases this year

Our college advisor told me that one of our NESCAC schools saw an increase of 15%.

I don't think it has anything to do with not visiting--I did last year.

Who knows??? Best of luck for those still waiting, though...

I'm very anxious! Is it true that many people have already received their decisions? I put so much effort into my Wesleyan application, calling for interviews, visiting campus, contacting professors and students, etc. I thought my stats were good for the school, falling into the middle range profile of previously accepted students. Now I'm not so sure...=(

Anyone get accepted from Long Island. I didn't get anything, so I'm afraid I was rejected.

I'm from LI. nothing here yet. :(

Tell me you're a valedictorian with a 2400 SAT, because that would mean the letters just haven't come down here yet.

sorry... not valedictorian. SATs 2120. :( I really hope they just haven't sent them out yet, but i think if they had, we'd be hearing of it here.

They haven't sent them out yet. We had a ridiculous number of people apply from my school, and nobody has heard. Plus nobody's gotten rejected yet (that I can see on this board, anyway), which makes me think that they've only been sending out early acceptances.
