If that’s the case, do I have a shot at a Psych major w/ a 3.5 GPA and 28 ACT?

just got the status change at around 4pm. officially accepted.

^congrats Sandor!!

if you dont mind telling, what were your stats?

thanks susan! age, i’m in state in a public school within the top 6% of my class out of around 400 graduating students (might be higher, i won’t know until the end of this semester) with a 3.9 or higher GPA. scored a 27 on the ACT, a little lower than i was expecting. i have no EC’s but 150+ hours of comm service each year, and i’m part of a early college program and have about ~40 college credits. also a member of phi theta kappa honor society.

Anyone else having trouble accessing the website to check app status?

My son applied to poly-sci: 3.4 , AP and honors classes with 29 ACT…in State resident, any chance for him?

also can’t access the site—maybe they are loading up all the admits today!

I think your son looks good—ACT above average—GPA maybe slightly below avg…

Everyone above a 26 ACT and a 3.5 avg. was admitted from son’s HS last year.

amywom I think he’s in. Good luck!!

I just accessed the site. It worked fine for me, buuuttttt, im still on evaluation.

me too. i applied right at the last second for the deadline though

agehr91, you likely have a fine shot at getting admitted (although don’t know what your other qualifications are). My niece got her admission letter today, so hopefully you will get good news soon!

Squattingdog10, I see that you are applying to both OSU and Purdue. So is my daughter, but no updates at this time.

Right you are rleffler! Good luck to her and her decisions, I hope she gets in and gets to go where she wants to. Right now im kind of torn, I was just accepted to Purdue for Engineering however im still waiting on OSU. I applied to OSU well before Purdue because I really wanted to get to main campus. Purdue is my #1 choice however I do not think I will attend due to OOS costs roughly 35000 to OSU’s 20000 or so because im instate. My father would really like to see me go Purdue as he is an alum but im just not sure its worth the extra 60000 to have the name when i can get virtually the same education at OSU. But first things first I gotta get to columbus, its driving me crazy to wait like this.

Again good luck to you and your daughter im sure shell end up where she is supposed to.

We also have a Purdue vs. OSU dilemma - but we are OOS, so it is $$$$ at both.

Son was accepted at both (and we are SO happy because BOTH are great schools) but ultimately it has to come down to fit and feel. We have a rich legacy at OSU, but I think Purdue is a better fit for DS. He would be in the College of Education at Purdue, Liberal Arts at OSU…

Daughter has applied to UC (Cincinnati), Purdue, and OSU as an Engineering major. OSU is her first choice. Her brother is a senior Engineering major at OSU.

She’s been accepted to UC, but under review at Purdue and OSU as of a few minutes ago. Hopefully we’ll get a decision this coming week.

Hey we another school in common rleffler! I applied to UC as well, however still under review at UC and OSU. Actually i’m wonderign where my decision is for UC, i applied back in October as well, but they said they hold off on engr for a while and begin to release on dec 1 (for engr)

Not to intrude but would you mind me asking how you will assist in the tuition, room and board, and fees. Im only a senior and just beginning to put my foot in the water with this financial stuff. Im not talking anything specific just like (example) 20% loans, 70% money in the bank, and 10% local and merit scholarships. Again I trying to ask this in as nice a way possible, please dont think i’m and impolite, immature student. It just makes me feel overwhelmed and kind of a weird feeling that the only thing which stands in the way a degree from purdue is money. Im desperately looking into local scholarships, and alumni scholarships, but when it really comes down too it I think it is more responsible to just stick with instate and have hopes of Purdue for graduate school. My stats arent wonderful as you may have seen in other posts which make it very hard, next to impossible to get merit scholarships from the university itself. And I fall in that bracket where my parents make good money but too much to get anything but not enough to where tuition and things would be no problem, and my stats cant get me anything so im for to go full steam on the money aspect.

Im just a kid whose trying to get the best bang for his buck but still truly enjoying where he wants to go.

Edit: Excuse my grammar, I typed this really fast.

Scratch that. I was just officially accepted into the College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Man this is a great day, Purdue and UC for Engineering, I’m sooo happy.

My brother went to Purdue for Mechanical Engineering. He had a fantastic internship (Oakridge National Lab) and they offered him a job for when he got out of college and told him that they would pay for him to get his masters at UT. He was only in his 3rd year. I know it’s a lot of extra money for the same degree, but people know that if you were able to tough it out through Purdue, then you know what you’re doing.

SquattingDog,

My recommendation is to have an open conversation with your parents. OOS tution is problematic for most.

My son’s scholarships covered OSU, but fell well short of Purdue, UofM, Carnegie Mellon. He’ll graduate from OSU nearly debt free. OSU may not have the prestige that some of the other schools may have, but it is still a great engineering school.

As for my daughter, let’s just hope she’s as fortunate with the scholarships as my son. Only time will tell.

Regardless of where you go, you’ll get top offers. All the schools that you’ve been accepted to are top schools.

just found out i got in. i’m kinda surprised because I just applied Dec. 1!
