LINYMOM, is Bing still admitting lesser OOS students and rejecting more qualified in-state? I guess you’ll find out soon. They let OOS know first last year as well.

It’s interesting because while UD’s mission is to favor in-state students, Bing’s seems to be to favor OOS. But that’s a topic for another thread.

Misterbill - The “controversy” is happening over on the Bing thread. I’m not sure about lesser requirements of D’s OOS friends for Bing (one NJ and one MA) - I don’t the kids that well. Binghamton also has Accepted Students Days in May - unbelievable - although I’m less concerned about that because, although the price is right, it is not high on D’s list.

Last year accepted students day was mid-April so it appears that they are running about 2 weeks late. I also noticed on some threads that they did interviews this year. They didn’t last year, so maybe their admissions process has become more time consuming and involved. And that, with increased applicants has probably pushed them to their limit.

Overall I am very pleased with the school. Considering it’s a large public university (as opposed to a small private), I think they do a pretty good job in general. it’s not perfect, but I don’t think anywhere is. And most important, my son couldn’t be happier.

jbevangelista, what makes you say that they are being packaged up and could possibly be sent out this weekend? i called again today, they said they were sending them out “within a week” =/

Within a week?! That’s good enough for me! At least they have a set time limit now!

eh, i’d still feel better if i knew the exact day they’re being put in the mail so i can guess which day it will be…if it’s even during the week. could be by next weekend for all we know. i just wanna knowww =[ i applied in like the 2nd week of october…i’ve been waiting over 5 months it’s killing me

My D is also awaiting UDel’s decision…her first choice!

I called the admissions office this morning (Thurs.), and was told that letters were going out the end of this week and would be received by all “out-of-staters” by the end of next week. When I asked it the letters were being sent out in waves, I was told that they were all going out at the same time.

I also asked if waiting students would find out by checking their online status and was told that they would find out by regular mail.

I don’t know if that’s helpful, but thought I would share it just the same.

Good luck, one and all!

sooo by the end of this week, wouldn’t that mean tomorrow or saturday? idk i mean i’d love for that to be true but at this rate it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll have them out within the next 2 days. i really hope they do though!! thanks for the info :] i kinda feel like they’re giving everyone semi-different info. all they told me was “within a week”

handemom, my son is also extremely happy at UD. It was not his first choice originally, but now he looks back and realizes it was the best choice for him.

Big, bright yellow envelope (with blue writing, of course) arrived today. Says CONGRATULATIONS on the outside. Nice…

Our bright yellow package arrived in Rhode Island today! Can’t wait for D to come home to tear into it.

LOVED the admissions packet. from the bright yellow envelope, to the personalized letter & packet, i was really impressed. kinda makes sense why they took so long actually.
