Admissions decisions

I know lots of people are anxiously awaiting. I heard that though the website says they'll be out in mid-March, the admissions commitee is now saying LATE march. Does anyone know when they're coming out? Or has anyone heard?

I don’t think anyone knows, but I do know a friend’s daughter who works in the UDel Admissions office that says they had quite a hard time this year - so the delay makes sense.

In the meantime my son has gotten all his other acceptances and offers and has already decided to go to another school.

I do think the longer this drags out, the more likely that potential students are going to start to lean to other schools where they have already been accepted. The process has the effect of wearing you down a bit.

At this point in the year, financial aid packages are out and everyone just wants the decision to be made.

i think because the website said decisions would be out mid-march and now we ar hearing late march is what makes this wait so hard and a little frustrating. there are a number of schools that my son applied to that wont release decisions til april 1st but he has known that all along…my daughter has been anticipation mode for the last 2 weeks only to find out the date has moved again…also the fact that we are hearing some people are being called and emailed. that doesnt seem right to me.

I heard March 21st, or “the week of”… But I don’t know if I even trust that.

i just dont understand how they can just change there decision date without telling people…everyones expecting decisions

When do they actually guarantee that you’ll hear by? I know it’s hard to wait but look at it from their side, they had record applicants and were supposedly accepting less people so it was even harder than usual.

i know, i completely agree. if i hadn’t found this website i’d still be expecting to hear by tomorrow. it’s not fair at all. they should notify people of the extension.

btw, i was there this weekend visiting a friend and i went to the admissions office just to see if i could get any answers from them and no one was working. even though it was a saturday, i heard that they work on weekends if they’re behind schedule or backed up. so idk why they weren’t. hopefully it means they’re done and sending them out this week…?

Since is seems they have missed the notification date of 3/15 that is posted, wouldn’t it be thoughtful and more efficient (than having people calling individually) to post a new expected date of notification on the admissions page or their Facebook or their Twitter
Applicants have deadlines they are expected to meet. Admissions has had quite a long time to get the job done.

couldnt agree more. also, a girl from my school got a call yesterday saying she got in and that her packet was in the mail so i figured that maybe they were all sent out yesterday. welllll apparently not because i called this morning to ask if they were sent out and the guy was like “no, theyll be sent out within the next 2 weeks.” UGHHHHHHH.

seems there is either inefficiency or pretense attached to their admissions process. Other flagships manage to get the decisions out much faster than Del. DS has heard from PSU, Rutgers, SUNY Bing and OSU , U of Fla and FSU so Delaware has fallen off his radar. Hope this means that students who really want to go to Delaware get that opportunity,

Pretense? You must be kidding. And are you serious that a 1-2 week delay could cause kids to decide to go elsewhere? They had record number of applications. They lost 3 days (maybe more) do to the record snows. Yes it would be nice if they got the info out faster or told people what was going on.

Same conversation going on over at the SUNY Binghamton board. All SUNYs (NY state schools) have already sent decisions, except Binghamton. Well, not true. OOS has already heard from Binghamton (so the in-state are “screaming” on here about that). BLDESQ: you must not be in NY.

My D is waiting to hear from both UDel and SUNY Bing. We are in NY, but she much prefers UDel over Bing. Of course, she’s already heard from other state schools all over the place (UMD, UConn, Towson) and in NY (Albany, Buff).

The wait is just getting really hard – especially without the phone call that all here have been talking about (and because I think UDel is her first choice at this point).

When do they have their accepted student days anyway? Trying to save some Fridays over the next few weeks and fit it in my work schedule. Being up in the air - STILL - is just difficult.

LINYMOM, one of the admitted student days is Saturday, April 24. I hope you all get to go!

Thanks - I’m available but my D isn’t! I hope there are others!

I saw one posted for May 1, too.

Another absolutely impossible day. Let’s see if she gets in first.

so if the decisions arent online on that “backdoor” way does that mean they havent made the decisions yet?

mustard, from what i understand, decisions are all made and admissions is packaging up all the decisions and sending them all out at once either by the end of this week or first of next. decisions wont be online until packages get mailed.

What good is an accepted students day on May 1 if that is when decisions are due?

This school had a priority deadline of 12/1 and has still not notified even the honors kids of their acceptances.
