All these deferrals are really freaking me out
Yes they release decisions throughout the evening. Make sure to keep checking.
@topwop @berry0720 I’m also waiting for Miami! I hope they get in!
@acs2000 yeah thats how the last one went
Weird they’d release deferrals before admits. Is this the way it went in November too?
@berry0720 the dang ACT!! Grrr! D took it 6 times. I’d say your D GPA more than makes up for it. Good luck. I feel for these kids. Wasn’t like this when I went to college.
@Student7474 sorry if our Deferral news is freaking you out. Keep in mind my D had no real expectation to get into OSU. It’s tough to get in main campus as a first time freshman. Don’t let news on this thread upset you. Good luck.
Nope, in November the decisions were mixed.
@Ilikewilco the last one was a lot of acceptances, not many deferals
I just checked the portal. Still under evaluation. My sister’s friend said they send out deferrals first (she has no connection with admissions, so take this with a grain of salt). Based off what I’ve seen on this thread today though, that seems to be the case.
My sister applied to nursing with a GPA and ACT below average. I don’t feel comfortable sharing exact stats because I haven’t asked her for permission. She has no extracurricular activities besides working, but that takes up a lot of time. If I had to guess, it was my sister’s lack of extracurricular involvement that left her out. Otherwise, she would have had a good shot. Her essays were so good that an admissions officer at one school wrote her TWICE over it.
It looks like my sister is heading to UK. (They have an amazing nursing program though, so I’m proud of her!)
@opalescence Thanks! Miami is the one she’s been waiting 2 years for. Working so hard to get to the 3.6 27 threshold to get decent consideration. I’m proud of her either way. But after 14 yes, 1 deferral, a Miami NO would be hard on her. Good life lesson either way.
So if we haven’t heard any decision yet, should we consider it a good or a bad sign?
Good because so far it looks like people are mainly getting deferred, bad because you just might not be in this wave, and with each wave there are less and less spots
@gccollege in the same boat as you and freaking out
3.35UW, 3.57W, 1500 SAT :’(
Still “evaluation” on my son’s page. In-state with a 4.4 weighted GPA and 34 ACT. Hoping for good answers from OSU and Miami tonight because he applied to 8 schools and hasn’t heard from a single one yet.
Considering all the deferrals, I’d consider it good so far.
@MamaBearz99 Why would you be worried about getting in??? Unless you’re from Columbus or something, those stats should be well above what’s “needed”
MY STATS in case anyone is interested…
OOS: FL
ACT: 26 (not sure if OSU does superscore or not but it would be 28)
SAT: not submitted
GPA: 3.4 UW/4.05 W
EC’s: Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Interact Club (volunteer service), lots of volunteer hours at Elementary schools and church. Also a member of the NSHSS
6 AP’s
2 Dual Enrollment classes
@ScrubStudent What is the difference if you are from Columbus?
My son is also awaiting the admission decision, with this application still showing as under “evaluation” as of 3:35 p.m. central time. He’s our oldest, so our first going through the college admissions process. He’s applied to several schools and fortunately he’s been admitted to the four he’s heard back from, so that takes the pressure off somewhat. He’s also applied to Miami, so hopefully he’ll get good news tonight. Fingers crossed!
I’m not really worried, although he did apply to the biz school and there have been students with similar stats from our area who didn’t get in. Maybe they’re just urban myths lol. But most of his friends were accepted in the November wave. I think he’d just like to know for sure so he can start making some decisions.
