Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

MamaBearz99, no question your son will get into Miami. OSU though…you never know. Seems much more random.

@aali165 it’s considerably harder to get into OSU main campus if you’re from Cbus or suburbs around it. They like diversity from all around Ohio, they can’t take a lot of good students from just one area.

If you’re OOS, you’re in.

For my district, it is extremely hard to get in. That’s been told to me multiple times throughout high school.

@curious105 Yeah I’m not as worried about Miami, although he applied to the biz school there, too. Plus my whole family went there so he is a super legacy, if that’s a real thing. To my dismay, he’s more interested in OSU.

The diversity thing does not just impact Columbus, For instance a good, large, HS in the Dayton area might have 50 kids that are 32-33 ACT and 4.3 + weighted, They aren’t all going to get in. Much less qualified OOS will before many.

@MamaBearz99 Both have awesome business schools. Consider Kelley at IU as well (if you want OOS and Midwest.)

With those stats, I wouldn’t be worried. Still, I do know some people with high ACTs who did not get in (but OSU likely knew they were using them as a safety school or they weren’t involved in anything BUT school.)

So has anyone gotten in today? Also are they done with this wave of applicants?

We’re in the Cleveland area and I do know of students who expected to be admitted based on stats but weren’t. So many of the admissions decisions seem random like that, you just never know. We’d just breathe easier with an answer. And he declined to be admitted to a branch campus.

in the November wave people heard back until like 10 pm at the latest i believe so we still have time

@Curious105, I know. I was just giving an example because the user specifically asked about Cbus.

Generally, feeder schools from OH who sent a lot of kids to OSU end up being a way tougher admit than a school that doesn’t usually send any or many.

EDIT: Anyone receive any other decisions?

@aali165 The whole region has more competitive schools, more applicants, and more EC opportunities; hence, people from other parts of OH are at an advantage, here. (like myself)

I live in Erie County. Is this good or bad for me, decision-wise?

gccollege - OSU doesn’t superscore.

ok thats what i thought. Will they keep releasing decisions throughout the evening because from last years discussion, people were saying the times that they got their decision but I think they were putting the time that they actually saw it, not the time it was posted…

Hi! Just received a letter in the mail notifying me that I was awarded the Maximum Scholarship (3,000 a year)! I am so excited. Here are some stats
When did you receive your admission decision: 11-16-18 (First Round)
Major/College of Choice: Chemical Engineering
Class Rank: 7/279 (top 2%)
Weighted GPA: 4.440
ACT: 33
Goodluck everyone! <3
See ya in CBUS! (maybe) :stuck_out_tongue:

Just got my decision!! ACCEPTED!!! updated at 5:00 pm and decision was on the portal…

@ScrubStudent None of us are the admissions officers, so I’m afraid we cannot answer that directly. All I know is that it is harder to get into if you’re from central OH especially.

@gccollege I noticed that too. Hopefully it’s when they got the decision…

@gccollege CONGRATULATIONS!! Stats??

@gccollege there’s a new wave of decisions out now???

where are you guys from who heard back
