@Yoda13 you’re not alone-I’m concerned too. My OOS son was also accepted first round as well as Honor Acceptance and still nothing on Merit money. Looking at past years I’m still hopeful.
@iamamom3 Fingers crossed for both our kiddos!
My son was accepted first round 2 years ago and his Merit letter didnt come until Feb 12th. He received National Buckeye and Trustee scholarships. It seems from this thread that the only scholarships out so far were Buckeye + Maximus so maybe those go out first and they work their way down? My daughter was accepted this past Nov and she is still waiting on Merit money. Her stats were slightly better than her brothers. FINGERS CROSSED!!!
Do you know when the last round of decisions is?
I see people mentioning various dates that admission decisions come out on. How are these dates known? My daughter applied EA but not until the 11/1/2018 deadline. Based on her stats (SAT 1470, unweighted GPA 3.92) with AP classes and extensive extracurricular activities and leadership, I’m thinking she’ll get in, but she’s getting anxious hearing that others have heard by now. She’s out of state, if that makes a difference. She’s hoping for the buckeye scholarship as well, but one comment I read said that those award notices were already made. Feeling confused and in the dark. Would love to hear from anyone with more knowledge on these topics.
@collegemom734 I am by no means an expert but your daughter should be accepted with those stats (my OOS son with similar stats was accepted). I spoke with the Admissions office today and scholarship letters have started going out and will continue through February.
@collegemom734 OSU releases EA decisions in waves, with no discernable rhyme or reason except that they seem to come out monthly from November through January. Applicants that meet the EA deadline will definitely receive a decision by the end of January. Merit scholarship notifications come later with no apparent rhyme or reason either. People just speculate based on last year’s dates. Don’t worry, there are still plenty of people who haven’t been notified, and your daughter looks stellar! My son is currently a freshman at Ohio State and is loving it!
Haha, it seems like everyone is anxious about the spectulated Friday release date. I keep checking this thread fo some reason, even though I know I have to wait until Friday haha.
Out of state, 1140 SAT, 3.2 unweighted GPA, 3 AP classes, and a lot of extra curriculars. I know these are low stats but what do you all think my chances of admissions are.
@maddunc I think you have a better chance than you think you do. It is way easier to get in OOS with poorer stats than it is to get into from instate.
Also, a large majority of my friends have been accepted in the December round and are all receiving their scholars and honors information about now. Am I going to get screwed over because they haven’t probably looked at my application yet?? Do I even still have a chance at any of these?
Does anyone know if this Friday is for sure? My OOS son has a 3.98 unweighted, 1240 SAT, AP classes, and lots of extracirculars like editor of the yearbook and president of eco club… what are the odds he gets in?
Really hoping I find out this Friday.
^ Same!!!
^ Same!!!
I’m pretty sure it won’t affect you as long as you made the Early Action deadline if so you are supposedly eligible for all scholarship opportunities depending on your stats and activities.
^Same!!!
Perfect thread. Answered so many questions about the process. Waiting for Friday like so many. Kiddo has solid stats. In state. Top 10%. Only average ACT, very nerve wracking.
Does anyone with pretty solid stats (33 ACT, 4.45 GPA, great EC) feel like even if they get in during the third wave, it’s kind of a distant memory? Daughter hasn’t heard yet and at this point our daughter has kinda moved on even if she gets in. Most other acceptances came before Christmas and we’ve already booked admitted student days at some of her top choices (Tulane, Madison, Indiana Kelley). Those fill up quickly, flights get more expensive, hotels booked, etc. Plus just general research and excitement over the past 2 months knowing that she’s for sure accepted. I’m sure it’s super hard to get through the massive amount of applications, but just wonder if the large delay in this last wave is deterring others? Nothing against Ohio State - it’s a great school which is why she applied. Just a thought that extending these waves over 2+ months makes the late acceptances feel an afterthought?
Yes, OSU is my son’s #1, so it why we are on edge. I have noticed he has done a deeper dive into the schools that have accepted him than before. Which I think is good, his 2 & 3 schools have switched places and he shows a real interest in visiting even if he gets into OSU. He states this as a direct result of having to wait where the others were so responsive and positive early on. The new #2 is easily as competitive and as large as OSU.
Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone waiting to hear back tomorrow! Hopefully tomorrow I get some good news as I will 100% be attending OSU if I get in. Good luck everyone!
