@arptlaw My D’s stats sound very similar to your son’s. For my kid: in-state, top 10%, tons of ECs & AP classes, only avg ACT and SAT. Unfortunately, this is the ONLY school she wants. Put all her eggs in this one basket against out advice. And we, like many of you, are STILL waiting. Hoping for some good news tomorrow! Good luck to everyone still waiting!
If you get a decision tomorrow put it in this thread! I want to be sure they’re comingg our tomorrow before I start obsessively checking haha
@doglover2001 I get what you mean about the student and parents losing interest in the school after receiving admissions decisions from other comparable schools months earlier. I agree with you that it would put an end to the speculation and unnecessary anxiety if the school would release all of their EA decisions on the same day, and to announce that day in advance. There’s enough stress caused by waiting for the decision, but that stress is compounded by the fact that (1) you don’t know when that decision will come out, (2) they send out decisions in waves without any apparent rhyme or reason, which leads students to speculate about where they stand, and (3) there’s a certain level of resentment that you met the EA deadline just like everyone else, but get treated differently if you get one of the later notices. Then you wonder if there will be scholarship money left by the time you hear from the school, you are farther down the list in terms of dorm selection, and whatnot. Having said that, with as many applicants as OSU receives, I can’t imagine how much time it takes to review the applications, and if they wait to release all of their EA decision by January 15, for example, that might result in many more students losing interest in the school. Not sure what the right answer is.
Yes, does seem like some kids are moving on. Some of the schools are taking longer than we thought to get out decisions. Got accepted and scholarships way before Christmas from South Carolina and WVU . It was all very exciting and now we just wait and go to the mail box everyday and no news. Now it may be till March 31 for Wisconsin which will be too late. Also waiting for Penn state which thought we would know by Dec 24 but they deferred so many kids. Knew Clemson would be Feb. Glad Ohio State will be soon. With these bigger schools worry about lack of dorm choice , scholarships and accepted students events if you get accepted later. So going to admitted students events at WVU and SC and wonder about getting dorms and accepting scholarships while we wait for the other schools.Very excited about Ohio State and possible buckeye scholarship. Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone !
I agree with above, process is stressful. My OOS was lucky to be accepted first wave back in November, then received acceptance into honors program…but has heard nothing on scholarships. He can’t afford to attend without at least buckeye scholarship so he can’t celebrate his acceptance. It’s a shame the entire process can’t be streamlined a little better. I guess it’s just the way it works…others have had to go through it and survived.
I hope to hear good news from tOSU tomorrow! The three month wait has been stressful.
my application status is still “Evaluation”
@Itsfranziska The decisions don’t start to come out until 3:30 PM EST and continue coming out through the night.
Good luck to everyone today! I’m wearing OSU apparel for good luck!
ohhhh well i pray today is the day i get into my #2.
lol same @equationlover
Prayers for all of us that have been waiting out this long 3 months!!! Hopefully it’s been worth the wait! Please post the decisions (good or bad) as soon as you hear!!! Go Bucks!!
I find it very odd that people are so up in arms about “having to wait so long” for a decision. Yes, it may be frustrating that you weren’t in the first or second wave, but the website is very open about the fact that Early Action applicants who have all materials in by the deadline will receive a decision by the end of January. If you were still waiting a month from no, I could understand. But I would consider it “lucky” to hear earlier, but normal to still have not heard.
In case you need reference: Autumn term applicants: If you met Ohio State’s November 1 early action deadline, you will receive an admission decision by the end of January; otherwise, you will receive an admission decision by end of March.
^^^ This is not to say I don’t get it, I do, because the waiting game is so stressful. Just saying that they are adhering, thus far, to their promised deadline. So nobody should be super surprised about not getting a response yet.
As for merit money, there will be some left for this wave. There always has been. Same for housing. Save for a few certain circumstances, freshmen will be in the dorms they have always gone in.
anyone still in evaluation?
I’m still in evaluation, really hoping to find out today… I’m not going to check until tonight
@NDIrishFan @buckeye1278 See my comment above. ^^ They don’t start to come out until later today.
Don’t worry- in the last wave hey started coming out around 4 EST and continued on til very late. The earlier you got it, the more likely that it was a rejection or deferment. Also seemed to do OOS just slightly before IS. I’m in the same waiting-boat, I’d recommend to just go home from school, take a nap/watch a show/do something fun, then start checking so you don’t kill yourself with anxiety
AII the best to everyone:)
Oops, I meant @NDirish19 above. ^^
Important to remember that 4pm today is just speculation. My son is anxiously waiting, too.
I reminded him that tOSU only promised an answer by the end of January. So anything before January 31 is a gift.
Good luck to everyone still waiting!
