Hi all, I was recently notified that I was a national merit finalist. My College Counselor told me to send emails to all the schools I applied to and tell them I advanced, but I can't seem to find a good admissions email address for Duke. Has anyone else had the same experience? What did you do? If not, does anyone know the appropriate email address? Thanks

Take a look at this webpage, find the individual responsible for your part of the country:

Duke University Admissions: Contact Admissions

Usually the email address is firstname.lastname@duke.edu.

If you want to verify the address look the admissions officer up here:

Duke OIT - Search by Name

It's unfortunate the email addresses of the admissions personnel are not on the same page that lists them.

Will do. Thanks, Westcoastmom!

is that necessary... to send an email out? I mean, I put nat merit on my app - wouldnt they just assume you got finalist?

^^^ I was wondering the same. I haven't notified any schools.

JohnC613: not necessarily true, some don't make it past the semifinalist stage.

Ya I was wondering the same thing, I mean it's really the semifinalist and actual scholar standings that count. Nevertheless, my College Counselor urged me to, and I don't see how it could hurt.

i guess it wouldn't hurt, but remember 15,000 of the 16,000 semifinalists make it. in another thread, someone said duke can probably tell who will be making it to finalist or not so i don't think it's a big deal. however, if you havce something else to add as well (another award, update) that may help.

Eh, Duke doesn't offer any recognition of NM anyway.
