Admissions Essay vs Scholarship Essay

Hello all!

I was recently admitted to a college and am now in the process of applying for scholarships from that same institution. One of these scholarships is fulfilled by donors to the institution and has an application with short answer questions to be submitted through the school’s scholarship portal.

One of the questions on the application is very similar to a question asked on the application to the university itself. Would it be appropriate for me to submit this piece again for this different application? I don’t want to be at risk for a plagiarism strike since I would have already included a similar version in my application. I also don’t want to give anyone at the university the impression that I am not dedicated to completing the new application-- I have no issue whatsoever with writing a new piece and would not consider submitting the pre-written response if the prompt wasn’t so similar.

Do you think that I should write a new piece to be safe, or would it not matter either way?

More than likely it will be acceptable for you to submit the same essay.

Remember that many schools keep separate the admissions and financial aid departments during the application process. This may continue to hold true even at this next phase of consideration for the newly accepted student.

You can ask the admissions or foundation ( scholarship) office without fear of penalty, which I highly recommend.
