What are the percent acceptances for each individual college at Cornell? I'm most interested in CALs, but also a bit in Human Ecology, but I would still like to see the info for each college. Also, my SAT score is 2230, but with a 640 on reading. My ACT is 32. My GPA is 3.92 unweighted, but I have 6 APs through junior year, and taking 5 or 6 more next year. I know stats alone don't mean much, but assuming I have some other good stuff, do I have a shot at CALS? (I'll try and get the SAT reading score and the ACT a bit higher).

Off the top of my head i think CALS acceptace rate is like 25% but i know I was interested in AEM and that has an acceptance rate of like 11% so it all depends on what department. Your stats look good though except you’re SAT reading. Keep in mind they don’t care about you’re SAT Writing which it looks like you did well on.

Jocer, yeah I heard Cornell doesn’t care about writing, and I happened to get a perfect score, although that was kind of surprising. Out of 1600, I’m still in the low 1400s, and I’m trying to get that up. Additionally, my 32 is near the top of Cornell’s middle 50% range, although it is technically lower than my overall SAT score. I’m going to work on both SAT reading and ACT. The actual ACT test date was the first time I saw the test, but I knew my friends all told me to remember to work quickly, so I did. I think by September and October, that should no longer be an issue.

"What are the percent acceptances for each individual college at Cornell? "

For the admissions cycle prior to the one that just concluded, the breakdown was:

Arts 18%
Engineering 29%
Architecture 15%
Hotel 22%
ILR 25%
Ag 22%
Hum Ec 32%

Reportedly the aggregated acceptance % over all the colleges went down by about 1.6%this cycle from the prior one, but I haven’t seen any breakdown by college, which is what is most relevant to an applicant to a particular college of the university.

Most of my resume consists of achievements in math and science, more specifically the environment and research. This probably fits more with CALS. Do you think I have a better shot at CALS than Human Ecology, despite Human Ecology being the easier school to get in especially as a male, because I fit more with majors and objectives of CALS, or will Human Ecology still be a better shot?

How much do you think these stats would increase by applying ED?

i’d apply for CALS since thats where you fit in more.

the overall acceptance rate is almost double for ED, so i’d assume the individual rates would be at least 1.5 times those?
