Please help me determine my son’s chances of getting into the UCI Civil Engineering college with the following stats:
ACT Comp: 30
ACT Math: 35
ACT Eng: 28
ACT Read: 27
UC WGPA: 3.97
UWGPA: 3.80
IB Program student
Extra Curriculars:
JV/Varsity Baseball
JV/Varsity Basketball
Founder/ President/ Coordinator/ Tutor for a Tutoring Program for Athletes
Physical Therapist Assistant
Baseball Clinic and Field Cleanup
Environmental Cleanup Club
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Residency: Out-of-State
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCD: 52%
UCI: 57%
UC GPA is below the averages for both campuses but ACT is on target and Math score is very competitive. The Freshman admit rates do not take into account EC’s, essays, tests scores or the competitiveness of the intended major: Civil Engineering. I think your son has a better chance at UCI than UCD but both the decisions could go either way 50/50.
As an OOS student, you do realize you will be paying $55K/year to attend with no financial aid.
Good Luck to him and I hope he has some solid Match/Safety schools also on his list.
Thanks for the reply. He was just admitted last week into ASU and OSU for Civil Engineering as his safety schools.
