Admission's letters are out!

Northeastmom asks,"Taxguy, Do you know what the overall plan is, and what is behind accepting 800 more freshmen this year?"

Response: I don't even have a clue as to what they are doing.

I know that I originally stated 800 more, but I think that was a typo. If my memory serves me correctly, I think that there are 500 more freshman being accepted this year.

Bxian, Congratulations on your son's acceptance!

I'm from New Jersey and was accepted a month or so ago. I just recieved the Housing Packet in the mail a week ago.
Did anyone get notified about a scholarship yet?
and to anyone who goes there:
Any preference for freshman dorms?

i applied there too......dunno bout the scholarships....but for the doorms every1 seems to say that the towers are the best.

towers are bigger, but this year they will be accepting several hundred more students. When we toured they told us some freshmen will be tripled. They will triple in the towers, which now makes that room a lot smaller. There are 2 nice closets/room, but they will need to add a 3rd to the room, along with another desk and bed. That will make it as crowded as the other smaller dorm rooms, which will not be tripled.

Just got my acceptance letter today. I'm in!

congrats....hopefully i will get a decision today too

Congratulations!

My son got his acceptance last week. Hoping for some finaid as we are out of state. Otherwise, there are some good colleges in PA that are looking good too! BTW, I just saw that the Towson marching band pays every bando $500 for the fall marching band season.

Hello.....I've sent out my application on October...they asked for my senior grades..i waited till February to send my grades (1st and 2nd QTR)..first qtr, 3.6 second qtr: 4.0 I'm currently taking 4 AP courses...What are my chances of getting in?? they asked for my grade report, i sent it a month and a half ago....Then they told me to fax over my grade report for faster transition.....I've been waiting for soo long now? what is going on? i know my friend who keeps like a 3.1 GPA and has F's in her senior year gettin in Towson..whats going on? please help....I've called Towson over 5 times now..and still nothing happened..

You should get in no problem................................my d has already been offered 2 scholarships but we still haven't heard anything from the honors college.

We know some kids with REALLY LOW grades and S.A.T scores who got in.... what's up with that? I think they should be more selective......

That being said though, I think Towson is a great school. I really liked it when we went for the tour. I think it is the perfect size and in a great area. If I remember correctly, it works with several near by schools such as Goucher, Loyola and Hopkins where you can cross register and take a class there. Someone please let me know if I'm wrong because I'm not sure about that......

i think the school is great too....I'm from NY...and when i went to visit i loved it...it small but not to small overall i liked it.....i jus got accepeted today after my h.s. messed up with sending my grades....i can't wait till fall '06

My d got her letter for the honors college today. Sounds interesting.........has anyone done this program? Can you take as many honors classes as you want?

hey hey.wait a second here...I'm on the "Waiting List"..whats up with that...."Your cumulative gpa and test scores do not reflect our upcoming academic class" Well I have a 3.5 GPA....and my SAT's are around a 1000's..(verbal / math)...I know someone who was in the same situation as me...Who had a lower GPA than me.....and on her senior year took 4 AP courses...recieved below average grades..we are taking about under 3.0.. and this year i recieved a 3.6 (1st qtr) to a 4.0 (2nd qtr)..I'm taking 4 AP courses..whats up with that.. i sent in my application on october..and didnt get a decision letter till March 15??? whats up with that...what should i do? do you think its wise to argue w/ the school of their "waiting list" decision?

Park1987- something sounds terribly wrong there. I would definately call them just to ask. That makes no sense at all. Something sounds wrong wrong wrong.....................................let us know what happens.........

Park, Your gpa sounds fine (unless you mean weighted) but your SAT IS a little low. Perhaps your friend had something Towson wanted. Maybe she applied in September, who knows? With a high gpa and a low SAT, maybe they think your school is guilty of grade inflation. IMHO, it's not worth trying to figure out why they didn't accept you, it's their loss, not yours.

Do you have some other good schools where you have been accepted? If so, I would just move on to their accepted student days and check them out. Good luck!

hey...imma send Towson a letter about my situation..i'm not gonna argue..i'm just gonna tell them to reconsider their decision again..but I enclosed them some works I've done this year...including my recent grade reports....exams...classworks...hopefully things will be alright from there..Honestly i cant afford to go to outta state schools...and Towson seems like the perfect school for me....3.2unweighted....3.5weighted..GPA

Park,
75% of the accepted students to Towson LAST year had an avg. SAT score of 580 math and 600 verbal. For a school to be a sure thing, your scores should be right there. I'm not saying that they didn't admit people with lower scores, but that's it's not like you should have been counting on it. I understand that's it's pretty easy to transfer in from a Community College. Is that a possiblity?
