So no one from my school has received notice of acceptance in the last week. I'm seeing on the CC boards that transfer students have started getting notifications. I have also read on the CC boards from prior years that most deferred EA applicants do not get accepted RD. I think this might mean that Bing has filled up all its slots for freshman and has moved on to notifying transfers. That would mean that those us still waiting are going to be waitlisted. Ugh!

You don’t know that. A lot of the transfer applicants are finding out the sly way by being able to log onto the Pay Deposit option. Otherwise we haven’t gotten any official notification yet. Expect to hear something this week or the next.

Agreed. You can’t draw conclusions like that. There isn’t a rule saying that transfers must only be notified after the freshman class is filled and notified. And plus, I haven’t been notified yet so that just cannot be the case ;)

I just am happy everyday that I do not receive an e-mail from them because it would most likely be bad news given what minimal information is available about Bing’s admissions process.

im a transfer, and the waiting game is killing me, i cant log into the deposit area and im just hoping that it dosent mean i got denyed. Then agan i didnt get an email saying i didnt get in either so who knows, only 11 days till transfer are supposed to know anyway so who knows.

I am concerned they may be done. Except for transfers, this board has not had postings about acceptances for the last 10 days. My son applied SOM EA and was deferred to regular consideration. This morning when we checked his status it no longer says deferred to regular consideration… the application summary shows denied:’(. He has not received an official email yet. We were hopeful because he was accepted at Geneseo, Penn State (Smeal) and SU (Whitman) … all tough to get into…thought Bing would was possible.

I was also deferred from EA. I checked this morning and my Application summary, under “decision” still shows “deferred to Regular Decision” I do not know what this means???

@Saratoga Golf-sorry you got that news. I don’t understand Bing-practically every person I talk to or read about on this board was informed of the news in a different way! It makes an already stressful situation so much worse and could so easily be avoided…

@Steelfan43-that status is just saying that the “decision” on your application was to defer it to regular decision consideration. So, I assume you applied Early Action. Everyone who applied Early Action and was deferred has that same status, unless they have been admitted or denied very recently. Bing is now reviewing all regular decision applicants, including those who applied Early Action and were deferred. So, as of right now, you are either going to be admitted, waitlisted, or denied. Impossible to tell, but by 4/1 they will have mailed or emailed notification to all freshman applicants.

@number41x and @tocollege2010-you’re right, I am jumping to conclusions. The waiting is getting to me!! It’s hard not to overanalyze when I’ve been waiting so long and so much is riding on the decision…

@kkessler7-hang in there! We’ve made it this far, we’ll make it to 4/1…

Thanks @whichwillitbe. I am hoping I find out the decision this week so I can move on. I do not know if it is a good thing or bad thing that I have not heard anything yet. I check my emails every 2 hours hoping I do not have an email from Binghampton.

@steelfan43: yes, I totally agree!! I just want to know one way or the other so I can start trying to make a decision.

When it comes to colleges and what I’ve learned from various admissions departments, no news is bad news. the longer you wait, the less likely acceptance is, it seems.

@sophiesrsly: i don’t like hearing that, but it makes sense to me. what’s confusing me is that a bunch of kids in my school haven’t heard anything yet. historically binghamton has taken 50% of the kids who apply from my school, but so far only 25% have received acceptances. So maybe there’s still a chance that another round of acceptances will happen before 4/1? who knows!! All I can do is speculate!

I was deferred from early action, and just found out two days ago via the binghamton portal that I was accepted to the school of engineering, so there is still hope for you as well

@cheerwine93: congrats!!!

Binghamton’s admissions process is nuts. Some people hear by email. Some via the portal. Some via regular mail. Some both.

The portal still hasn’t updated my SAT or Mid year grades that were sent quite a while ago… the portal is soooo unreliable. My bet is on 3/23,3/24,3/30 or 3/31. My friends who were accepted were notified on a weekend so I’m hoping it isn’t news that completely ruins my weekend.

I was deferred on a friday and received my acceptance on a friday as well I believe.

I just found out I was wait listed to SOM. So angry right now. So can someone give it to me straight and tell me whether there is hope or should i just send in my deposit for another school? It’s killing me that they don’t just say denied but they are making me wait on false hope.

Browning… How did you find out?

Other colleges should use binghamton’s admission process as an example of what not to do, its absolutely ridiculous and insensitive to the kids who have been waiting for months. Send out all the Early action decisions at the same time, the regular decisions at the same time and the transfers at the same time. Good luck to all of you still waiting hopefully our patience pays off.

I checked my status on the status checker.

@browning, sorry but i would 100% send your deposit to another school. Last year binghamton only accepted 20 of it’s 500+ wait list applicants. SOM, from common consensus, is also very difficult to gain admission to.
