admissions question

I'm in deep love with sciences, i love math, im very interested in chem and physics, i got a gold medal and a silver medal in the national chemistry olympiads, i got an honorable mention in the pan-american chem olympiads and i got to participate in the world chemistry olympiads, i got accepted in the Weizmann Institute summer camp, and I am particularly intrested in the very escence of things, of life, how things work, i'm taking higher level physics chemistry and math in the International Baccalaureate diploma programme...

My question is directed to students and whoever wants to answer... im looking forward to going to Caltech in 2007, and i wanted to know if these charactersitics fit in the environment Caltech offers, and whether this makes me a favorable candidate for admission.

I think that these qualities definitely help your admissions chances at either Caltech or MIT (where your post was also made). Will they guarantee you admission? No.

That being said, I have a question for you. Since you "are looking forward to going to Caltech in 2007" and also "looking forward to going to MIT in 2007", do you plan to clone yourself? lol.

lol i know... I just copied the msg, they are both my top chioces, one is not on top of the other, since i heard that they ar both incredibly good, i just posted the msg, because i want to know other students opinion

I think Caltech would be well-suited for you. (Of course, nobody can ever guarantee anyone admission).

One of the reasons I picked Caltech over MIT was that I liked the honor code (I consider myself a very honest person). Caltech also seemed less cutthroat than MIT. That (in my mind) was what separated Caltech from MIT. So I would think about whether that fits your personality.

But that's just my two cents.

Personally I think Caltech >> MIT

I like how Caltech does not practice affirmative action--women have a much higher chance at MIT than they do at Caltech.

One of my friends goes to Caltech and he really likes it. I plan to make it my top choice next year!
