Mccombs Transfer Help

I graduated top 6% from a Texas h.s. and was rejected by Mccombs School of business for the 0809 year. I decided to go to TCU and am considering possibly transfering after my freshman year. What are my chances of being accepted as an external transfer to the business school?

GPA 4.0
SAT 1170, 1800
ACT 27
Decent Amount ECs

I know the SAT is low, is it possible to just leave it off the application? Thanks alot for the help

Your high school stats don't matter... If they did, you wouldn't get in with that ACT or SAT. I would just say work as hard as possible to get a 4.0 or very close, and if you can do that, then you should be able to get in. I am not really sure why you decided to go to a more expensive school, when you could have gone here for a year instead, major in economics then do an internal transfer... Regardless, you will need a 4.0 or close, so work hard.

Thanks for response, didn't think about transferring till now. Can and should I try to raise my SAT score? Besides maintaining a 4.0, what can I do?

Its a transfer, your high school stats and SAT no longer matter. Just get good recommendations and essays if they require them.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Tree87983, just a question for you. Considering that you were in the Top 10% of your high school class, why didn't you just go to UT LAC and then transfer into McCombs? Just curious. Anyways, hope you get in.

I was never as interested as I am now in UT, and for some reason I thought internal transfers were not possible at Mccombs. But live and learn I guess. Do you think I have a strong chance of admission with a 4.0? (I'd have to make it next sem too)

You should.

Just maintain that 4.0 and you should be a Longhorn.

A 4.0 is a virtual lock to get into the university of texas as a liberal arts or natural sciences major.

For McCombs, a 4.0 is not a virtual lock.

Just choose McCombs as your 1st choice and choose liberal arts or natural sciences as your 2nd major, you are guaranteed to be accepted into at least your 2nd choice.

Even if you don't make McCombs, you can still transfer after 1 year at UT and 60 hours of college credit.

i am trying to do the same but you need like a 3.8 to have a shot because i know many people who didn't get in even with over 3.8. so basically you need a 4.0 at TCU.

make sure you read the requirements and complete the course requirements that they want.

also if you want to transfer into mccombs internally, average GPA changes every year because they decid the minimum GPA based on how many people apply that year. last year the minimum was 3.6 to get into mccombs internally. so you basically need to keep it at 3.7-4.0 for you to be sure that your in. this is what i am going to do next year at UT most likely.

Hi I wanted to know what my chances were at transferrring into Mccombs school of business. I’m a finance major and have a 3.75 gpa in my first semester at the Texas Tech but I only took 12 hours(I had to drop a class because I had a C-). I’m in 5 school organizations holding some leadership roles in some and have over 100 hours of community service. I’m taking 19 hours next semester to make up for the 12 hours I took this semester. I have a 27 ACT and 3.5 gpa in high school.

People make it sound so easy to internally transfer into McCombs, its not. You better have north of a 3.5, and really 3.8 to feel a little safe. McCombs is tough.
