Admissions Wait?

I submitted an application for admissions back in June (for spring semester) and a few weeks later I was requested to fill out a couple of extra forms. So, I sent those out three weeks ago and I still haven't hear back from UCF. I sent them an e-mail on Monday asking if any additional information may be needed or if the reviewing process was still ongoing. I got a response asking for my PID so that the office could look into it, so I provided my PID, and it has been three days without a response back.

Perhaps I am just being impatient and anxious, but this seems to be taking an excessive amount of time. Has anyone else been through this? Is this standard procedure? What could possibly be the cause of the wait?

I applied for spring semester too in June. My friend did the same thing last year and didn’t get a response until mid September. They say that they are too busy with taking care of everyone from fall semester that they haven’t had time to go through spring applications yet.

Did you go to my.ucf.edu and check your to do list? Your admission status will also show up on my.ucf.edu

The unversity is extremely busy at this point. They just finished summer and the college personnel are just coming back fulltime. New students are arriving and asking tons of questions with housing, enrollment, and financial aid. Classes start on Monday and about 50k people will be arriving.

I would give it a week to settle down. In the mean time check my.ucf.edu and drop an email to admission.

I have been checking MyUCF on an almost daily basis. My holds and to-do list are empty, but I contacted them anyway just in case.

Thanks for the responses, both of you!

By the way, are there any pros/cons with starting in spring compared to starting in summer or fall?

I called a couple weeks ago and they told me they wouldn’t be reviewing apps until Sept. I think they are just swamped now. Hope this helps!

I can’t stand the wait any longer. As soon as you hear something from the school please post it. I’m also waiting for Spring 10…

I agree, wait until after Labor Day.

Well, it is at least good to know that they won’t be reviewing spring applications until September. I can calm a bit and worry less knowing that the wait is not because of some application inadequacy or something.

Hernie: the wait is killing me, too. I feel as if I am in a state of limbo.

It’s good to know that I’m not the only one out here freaking out!!! I’m extremely impatient, so this is definitely a test of my virtue.

I don’t know if this makes a different but I am a transfer student and I applied for the Fall term but had to reactivate my application for the spring and within a week i was accepted, I sent my reactivation form august 3rd and was accepted august 10.

ucf, maybe it’s because you initially applied for Fall term. I’m a transfer student, but before I end up at UCF (hopefully), I’ll have my AA in General Studies from Valencia. So, essentially, I have direct connect to the school. In fact, I should’ve waited for “Decision Day,” at our campus, for UCF Admissions makes a decision at that moment and with no wait. However, sadly, I am impatient.

its funny but i applied back in March for Spring and felt like it was taking a long time waiting for SOME kind of decesion so i sent the admissions office a pretty demanding email and the next day i log on and was accepted lol

BigShow, so exactly what was written in that e-mail!!! I’m about to send them an e-mail… LOL

Hernie79 I don’t think it would work unless you’re a transfer student. Most transfer students get in through UCF’s Direct Connection, but it’s worth a shot. Tell me how it goes after you’ve sent the email.

Ramaru, I’m not sure I understand you. Are you saying that e-mails only work if you are a transfer student? If that’s the case, then the e-mail will work for me. I’ll be graduating with my AA in December, and I plan to transfer to UCF in the spring. My dilemma is the fact that I applied online, and I’m trying to figure out if the school knows that I want to do a direct connect.

i think UCFs direct connect when it comes to transfer students only applies to the Community Colleges that are in the Orlando Area. Im in South Florida and unless its a huge coincidence i felt that whoever read my email went out of there way and pulled my file out to make a decesion…i could be wrong but i never got a reply to my email just acceptance

Yeah, well…I’m currently at Valencia Community College, which is one of the schools on that list. We actually have a regional office at our campus, and when I went to speak to one of the advisors, the lady at the front desk told me “I was untouchable.” This being because I applied online. So, I’ll just have to call admissions to let them know that I was interested in direct connect. This way there’s no misunderstandings, and the school knows what my intentions are. By the time everything is all said and done each and every one of us will be starting in Spring 10, and running into each other at the campus, lol. In a sense, everything worked out for me because this is my last semester at Valencia. I figured it’s best to apply for Spring with all the deferments, and by then everyone who isn’t serious about college will drop out.

yeah i don’t think that it had anything to do with being a transfer student because my girl friend also applied and she is also a transfer student but has still not been accepted. her page says that the committee is gathering or something like that. it is very very frustrating because we wanted to go there together.

Finally, I got some type of response from the school. My status has been deferred until I send them a transcript with an AA degree awarded on it. Okay, this is better than NO! But, now I have to wait until the end of December, right before Christmas break to send UCF that transcript, so that means I have to be on top of them. Ultimately, this only allows me approximately a week and a half to go to orientation, and to register for classes…if I start in the spring. What should I do to change the mind of the admission person? I’ve never taken the SAT/ACT, and I didn’t write a personal essay. Now, mind you I have been out of high school since 1997, that’s when I graduated. I am registered to take the SAT in October…

I, too, got a response the other day but saying that they haven’t started reviewing spring semester apps yet.

I am not too familiar with the documentation necessary for transfer students, but I would think that test scores (and even the essays) are necessary. If you are awared your AA in December, you might be deferred to the summer term.
