Admit Weekend 2009: How was it?

What did you guys think of it?

It was great. Honestly, though, it bothered me because I did not get a sense of the school very much. It felt like a camp, much too pre-planned. The presentations were pretty vague IMO, and I was surprised that they didn’t really emphasize visiting the classes, clearly the most important aspect of a visit.

So, I thought it was much more fun than Princeton, but the latter’s preview was actually way more useful for choosing schools.

BAD-ARSE
but serously it was great, I met a ton of ppl…went to the parties…bonded with profros and students…it was really a blast

Had an awesome time on Thursday, but Friday was somehow very dull and boring. I didn’t even visit a class? I left Friday night. The dances were really funny because they were very awkward and played crappy music, for the most part. The icebreakers were fun. The people I met were great. A cappella was amazing! My roho was awesome!
CEDRO!!! (Branner sucks)

lets get serious here…

how were the parties.

it was fun but too long. saturday was a waste. also, yeah the dances were awkward.

hahaha there were dances?

it was totally sick! I had a ton of fun. The freshman (not the prospective frosh) in my dorm were awesome. I’ll have lots of memories : )

yes there were. I went to the first one but left after ~10 minutes because it was lame. Played ultimate frisbee with some freshmen on the field instead.

It’s a bad time to come if you want to go to classes.

Friday is everyone’s off day.

^ Perhaps for upperclassmen. But almost everyone in the freshman dorm I stayed in had classes on Friday. In fact, I attended one guy’s IHUM section that day. I also visited one other class during my stay.

You guys know something that’s interesting? I probably met a number of you profros at admit weekend, and yet I don’t even know that I met you guys in particular, since no one knows any real names on here. If that made any sense at all, then it should serve as some interesting food for thought. I’m sure I’ll always wonder who you guys really are, and whether or not I met you at admit weekend!

wait, for to the person who stayed in cedro! who are you, I was a HoHo!

I had a blast, but ironically enough I didn’t even participate in most of the Admit Weekend activities. I was paired up with one of my best friends for a RoHo (when she was in high school with me), so I hung out with her and her friends and got more of the whole “college experience” I ever could have hoped for. I was the only ProFro in upperclassmen housing. The only activities I went to were the Native American/Alaskan/Hawaiian welcomes on Thursday and Friday, the Department Visits, the Life After Stanford presentation, and the Dance Expo. I think on the entire trip, I only really talked to about three other ProFros - I didn’t even go to any of the Admit Picnics. xD

Needless to say, I still had the time of my life, and I’m coming to Stanford in the fall. :)
