Admit Weekend Reactions

Anyone decide on Stanford during Admit Weekend? I had a great time and sent in my enrollment card.

me 2...campus was a lot larger than i imagined...rofl @ bush protest

btw, those catepillars dangling from the trees were damn annoying

top 3 bad things about the weekend:
1. no bike so it was tiring walking everywhere
2. caterpillars!
3. found out that haircuts on campus are 18 bucks for guys...***?

those are the only bad things i could come up with
everything else about stanford is great, truly great

Admit Weekend made me realize that not going to Stanford would be a huge, huge mistake. The place is pretty much flawless.

I should caution you guys... Stanford is AMAZING and basically as perfect as a university can be. But when you get here life won't suddenly become blissful and all your problems won't just suddenly disappear. Some might become more of an issue, some might go away, others might arise that were never there before. You have plenty of reason to be excited, freshman year is an incredibly awesome experience, but you need to also be realistic.

BTW, did any of you stay in Otero?

soto, friend was in branner

marlgirl, ur wayyy too biased.

stanford is amazing, but its nothing close to a perfect university.

"as perfect as a university can be" is quite different than "close to a perfect university"

stanford isn't as perfect as a university can be either.

What should be different then? I honestly don't think I would be happier anywhere else. That seems to be 1) a statement that is easily accepted as being true and 2) equivalent to saying that to me Stanford is "as perfect as a university can be."

The Stanford mall has two haircutting places that charge $13 and $26 last time I checked.

The $13 place is gone, I just went yesterday and the information desk said it was no longer there. However, Supercuts is just a 3 minute bike ride from the Stanford Shopping Center, and it's also $13.

I had a great time. I sent in my enrollment form long ago, but now I can't wait to start because I already have some friends to go through everything with me next year. :)

Same here. I can't wait to see all my AW friends again!

Marlgirl, is otero 4 class? what do you think of it?

I didn't get to go to the Stanford Admit weekend. Besides the informational meetings, tours, etc. on the schedule what did you guys do? Were there "wild" parties like the ones at Harvard's AW? What did you guys sense Stanford was "all about"? For example, after the Harvard AW, I felt Harvard was about interacting with the (incredible) students and participating very, very seriously in ECs there, almost as much (or more) as the classroom experience. I just want to know what I missed out on at the Stanford AW; it sucks that they have it on the same weekend.

i sent in my enrollment card today. but it didn't have much to do with the admit weekend experience, which was, in my mind, pretty mediocre.

"1. no bike so it was tiring walking everywhere
2. caterpillars!"

I totally agree with number 1 - I haven't biked since 6th grade, but now I def. know that I need to get one. I got lost many times and by the end my feet were really really tired - it took me like 20 minutes to walk from my dorm to tressider.

As for the caterpillars - yup, everywhere I turned they were hanging from the stupid trees. There were also a lot of bugs - throughout the course of the weekend, one flew onto my sleeve, another into my eye (arggg), and another into my hair...

I was also placed in a dorm that was totally different from what I had requested. I had asked for either FroSoCo, SLE, or a single-sex dorm. Not that I hated my dorm or my host or anything, but I was stuck in an all-frosh (I'm obviously not a big partyer) dorm with CoEd bathrooms. Did you guys get the dorms you requested?

Otero is all frosh.

What is the dorm in wilbur that is 4 class and has 90 freshman?
