Hey guys,
I hope you’re all great. I need advice from a former or current UCSD engineering student on how difficult it is to change to Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering? What are the odds? How many students maybe managed to last year? Because I got accepted but as an undeclared major.
From UCSD website:
Continuing students who wish to be considered must submit an application to the MAE department during the application period and must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completion of at least one year/three quarters in residence at UCSD; (Freshmen can apply their Spring Quarter)
- Completion of all the following lower-division requirements for the requested major.
Math 20A-F (Math 20A-C Freshmen Only)
Physics 2A/B/BL/C/CL (Physics 2A/B/BL Freshmen Only) Chem 6A
MAE 8 - Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
Applications will be ranked by their UCSD GPA on the date of the application.
Admission is based on available space and meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission.
Students should be aware that applications will be evaluated based on academic excellence.
Students who apply later than the final day of their sixth academic quarter at UCSD will not be considered.
It is not advised that any student follows any impacted major curriculum. Deviation in ANY engineering major can delay your graduation by a year or more. It is not advisable to follow a different major’s curriculum, because if you are not admitted to the major you will be severely off track in your own major.
